I can't see how this is a bigger challenge for Highlands than the Colerain game earlier this year (at Colerain, no less). Plus, remember that the 'Birds were also dealing with a big loss then, as Conner broke his leg just two weeks earlier.

Also, I don't know what to make of the "means something" comment. Does this mean that some Highlands games don't mean something? I'm pretty sure that such a thing (i.e. a Highlands game that doesn't mean something) does not exist.

Of course they all mean something, I think he was just saying that in the playoffs if you lose your season is over. Unlike regular season you lose you still live to play another Friday.

Fortunately we have Conner back, unfortunately we have lost Roller.

I understand this concern, but come on, Highlands in 2002 was nowhere near where Highlands is this year. That team was pretty thin on talent, if I recall.
No, actually they were pretty good. And everyone thoroughly expected it to be yet another easy win. According to highlands-bluebirds.com* their only losses that year were to Lexington Henry Clay, Louisville Male and the infamous overtime loss to Dixie Heights.

As Henry and BF has clarified for me. Colerain had its own meaning and this game my friend is the only game that really counts and means squat at this point and time and whether or not the Birds move on. Chill out.:D

No need to explain yourself, great point :thumb:

Your right Skunk. Anybody that knows anything about HHS football on here knows exactly what I was talking about and should never get excited over silly little non-district, non-state, non-ultimate goal games.

Talking bout practice....practice. signed Allen Iverson

Birds win this one by 2 TD's. It will be a tight game. I also expect JC (Josh Conner obviously) to play some Safety in this one.

Highlands Linebacker core better be ready to tackle, they're going to get plenty of action this week. Looks like #17 Abner, will be playing the outside linebacker for the Birds. He's a good size player and has a family history of Bluebird athletes.

Hasn't he played a lot there?

My question is STILL unanswered. How many of you JC people who are predicting a JC win have actually seen Highlands? This makes the THIRD time I've asked and all three times it's gone unanswered but the same few posters keep ignoring the question.

For JC I think it will be tough for them to run the ball considering their run plays take so long to develop and Highlands has a tremendous amount of team speed defensively.

Not a "JC People" Eta Rho, but I'd venture to say that no more JC folks have seen HHS play as have HHS folks who have seen JC play. The only way that HHS would have seen JC play was by going to the CCS game.

Now, to your point, I believe Ashland fans underestimated the speed that HHS has. The team speed at HHS is hard to imagine if you have not seen it first hand. And to take it a step further, HHS has arguably a top 3, best "Football Speed" in the state. What is difficult to describe to those who don't understand it, is the difference between fast and football-fast. HHS has both.

Highlands but in a close one.

I'd say the majority of the HHS posters, such as myself, who are predicting a HHS win have seen them. I've personally seen JC first hand. (Last week against CCH)

But I agree that it is tough to really get a gauge as to how much speed Highlands has until you are actually on the field with them. JC will be considerably bigger than our Birds but they will have no where near the team speed needed to cause HHS fits. They have a few fast skill players but I don't think any compare to Crawford or Collinsworth.

Nearly everybody who has predicted a lopsided score appear to be Highlands fans unless I am mistaken. I saw one tongue in cheek prediction of a JC rout.

Those of you who are proclaiming that JC has no chance seem to be ignoring reality. Highlands did struggle with Bryan Station - a team that JC beat without its starting quarterback. Last season, JC dominated a Louisville Central team that gave Highlands fits. JC dominated Ashland, as did Highlands and JC dominated CovCath, as did Highlands. The CovCath announcers said that Johnson Central is as good as any team that the Colonels have played this season. They also said that they believe that JC was the second best team in the state in 2006.

Highlands may blow out Johnson Central. However, the notion that Highlands plays football on a completely different level than Johnson Central is no longer true. I expect a close, hard fought game.
