I think Jim goes for 2 again. At SC he went for two anytime in a close game.... but that may have been because we never had a decent kicker! Jim is a gambler by nature, and I think he always goes for the bigger risk/reward play.

If you let the school know how much space you need in advance, then I am sure that they will reserve plenty of space immediately behind the stadium. They will probably do that anyway, but I would call to make sure that they set aside enough space for your buses.

:thumb: Thanks again for all your help.

Henry here is a picture of the field from the school's website.

Yea, I saw that one but I was trying to figure out what streets led to the field. Thanks though.

They did after the Belfry game...oh, how they questioned him...

The place kicker we have now has been pretty consitent for a freshman. I think Matney will get the feel of the game and the momentum at that point and decide. As a side note, since we are now playing soccer look for the JC's kicking game to improve in coming years.

If HHS does not stop the "belly second-man" we will have a LONG bus ride home. From what I've seen/heard from JC, they execute this extremely well and their QB hides the ball really well. Their backs are big, fast and they block well downfield. This very well could be a MAJOR AMBUSH!! Focus Birds, FOCUS!!!!

their QB hides the ball really well

I agree JC does an excellent job of keeping the ball out of sight. This is where the Home Field advantage is greatest, not the crowd, not the long drive, but the dark colored home uniforms. It is a BIG part of their O, to disguise the ball's location. If they had to wear White, I think it would significantly less effective.

I think JC will have some success running the ball against Highlands. They run the belly option as good as I have seen. However, I do not think JC's defense will be able to stop Highlands running or throwing. I think JC will keep it close for a half, but unless Highlands puts the ball on the ground 4 or 5 times (and loses it), I can not see JC being able to pull off the upset.

I predict a 38 - 14 type of score.

I forgot to mention I predict at least 1 special teams score for the Birds as well.

I heard this is the best offensive line Matney has ever coached. Is that true?

There is a shopping plaza adjacent to the field that a lot of people park in. You can turn left at McDonalds and park in that plaza and there is an entrance to the football stadium in the far right hand corner.

Now for busses, that might be tricky on Black Friday.

Here is a crude illustration showing the location and some landmarks (Lowes, Food City, Kmart, McDonalds). The yellow road is labeled as Central High School Dr by mapquest. That leads you behind the school to the official parking lot. If you contact the school about busses, you will likely be sent here.

The red square is the parking lot for the shopping plaza I mentioned and I drew a red line showing where the entrance to the football field is.

This pic is old, and the new field and surroundings look a little different, but the scale is right and you can get where you want to be by following this.

Hope it helps.

Thank you soo very much. That is exactly what I was asking and looking for. It is always easier directing bus drivers when you have an idea of the lay of the land and where to turn and where not to turn.

This is the best post I have seen on this site. No one argues that HHS has more numbers and is deeper in talent and speed. The "Matney Factor" and the "Pride Factor" he can instill can not be ignored and is hard to factor in if you have not played JC. I hope everyone is predicting HHS will blow JC out all week! It will play right into Matney Plans.

You are right that was a great post that you quoted, particularly the opening line/sentence.:D

I'm sure Matney is playing the lack of respect card to the hilt, in spite of numerous posts to the contrary. If no one ever said anything about a Highlands blow out on here or anywhere else, Matney's Plan would still be the same. That's just part of the coaching game. And I'm sure Mueller is playing the counter card: we're the King of the Hill and JC is going to do everything it can to embarrass us and knock off of the Hill and that this game is more than just about this game. This game is about Highlands, its tradition, and its claim to being the best football program in the entire state. I expect both teams to come out fired up to the max. Which may not necessarily be a positive for either team. Sometimes too much emotion causes kids to lose focus of their assignments and responsibilities.
