We own the disrespect card!

Matney might create that illusion for his players; but when it comes to being disrespected, we have quite a lengthy history. Not by most; but certainly by some.

The only schools I'm aware of that "disrespect" HHS' legacy are those of the GCL.

HHS needs a couple wins over those guys to stop that.

That, another state championship, and four in one year for NKY are my greatest football wishes. :thumb:

HAHA Anyone who has ever muttered something negative about Highlands on here has not only contributed to the disrespect card, but then found out how Highlands fans deal with it. :D

Trinity, X, Beechwood, NCC, Danville....etc. can tell you that you don't win multiple state titles by overlooking teams. So, it's humorous when this comes up every year, every week of the playoffs...

And that applies to the Highlands fans themselves!

A few have that tendency. ;)

Don't get off kilter here. It was mentioned that Matney is using the disrespect card in prepping for Friday.

The accusation of HHS players "overlooking" Central comes from NOWHERE else but JC's coach. OTOH, I think it's safe to say select HHS fans could be doing just that.

I think they respect Highlands, but do not fear them. With their computer system they cannot afford to disrespect anyone.

Do they still have Jerry's Restaraunts in Paintsville?

Forget Jerry's, I'm heading to DQ for the footlong with sauce! Been taking my indigestion medicine all week in preparation.

Bring me one back in cryo-storage.
No disrespect, but I'd guess that there are less than 10 Highlands posters that have actually seen JC play this year. I know of only 5 Highlands fans that have and that includes you and me (and of the 5 that I am aware of, 2 of them don't post on here). So I think its say to say that a large majority of Highlands posters predicting a Highlands win have NOT seen Central first hand. Perhaps I'm wrong and a lot of Highlands posters have seen Central play this year, but I don't think I am.

This game is going to be very close. I'll take a one point win in a NY heartbeat without the least bit of disappointment (unlike the BS game).

And I do agree with you that JC does have some fast skilled players. Dillon, Welch and Richardson come to mind quickly. No. 1 and No. 5 (sorry, don't know their names) also have very good speed and if given a seam with our defenders out of position just a little, can take it to the house right now.

And I like how Matney puts his skilled players in a position to utilize their talents. Welch touches the ball from the backfield, from TE and from the wing. He passes the ball from the TE spot (I'd never seen a tight end aroung pass thrown before the Montgomery game) and catches the ball from all kinds of different positions. Matney is a very crafty and innovative coach. I loved seeing the overbalanced O line which seemed to confuse CovCath early on. When CovCath adjusted to Central running to the strong side, Matney started to run with great success to the short side and utilized the blockers in the backfield to exploit CovCath's shift to the strong side. Just brilliant coaching by Matney. Heck, he even tried the double flea flicker pass against CovCath. :scared: which I'm sure was for the benefit of the Highlands scouts in the stands.

I hope these predictions of a big win caused by Highlands speed and our ability to shut down Central's one dimensional O are correct, but I don't think they are. It will be a close, make that very close game in mu opinion based on my observations of Central.

And I won't even point out that at least one of the Highlands people that accompanied me to watch Central play was so very, very wrong when he disagreed with me and predicted after that game that CovCath would beat Central. I wouldn't want to embarrass Silver Streaker like that. :D:D:D Sorry my friend, I just HAD to.
