I'm sure Ashland has a very nice football team but this will be a scary week of practice for Highlands. The Birds will come out and play MAD friday night!!!!:D I have a feeling that Ashland will have a nice following this coming friday so i challenge anybody in Ft Thomas that views this board to suck it up friday night and come out and cheer the boys on. This past Friday night, might of been the most pitiful display of Highlands following for a playoff game that i have ever witnessed. Especially at home!!!!

That's the problem when you don't have a home game within 20 points. No lie, people showed up after halftime because they were "watching the scores on ICN-6 and realized it was a close game."

 

I guess some don't want to brave the cold and rain to watch a 40 point game. Unfortunately it sounds like a lot of them missed a good one Friday night.

Everyone in Ft. Thomas who has (or ever had) any connection to the school whatsoever should come out Friday night and support their home team. Most of these players are the children of the children of players that graced that field decades ago. They're the continuation of generations that came before. They're the next link in the chain of the school's tradition. They need our support -- and they certainly deserve it.

 

The state championship isn't a right of passage, no matter how much it may seem to have become so in recent years. It's not a given...we learned that this past Friday. It has to be earned; and it can only be earned if all the elements come together in just the right way at just the right time. And among those elements is fan support, parental backing and community involvement. They each are critical.

 

Highlands has done a lot for our community; I'm sure we all know and appreciate that. So we need to give back to the school. Financial support is a wonderful thing. But personal involvement means just as much to the kids -- probably more. Your involvement can start this Friday night.

 

Yeah, it's going to be cold and blustery; but the stands will be warmed by the spirit and cheers of the fans. We (as Ft. Thomas residents and/or HHS supporters) appreciate what the school and it's students, past and present, have achieved. And we want to see them achieve even more. So let's turn out in unprecedented numbers to support our Birds this week. They need to hear us make some noise!

 

Don't think for a minute that the players don't look up in the stands or hear the cheers of their fans. Those that were at the game this past week remember the excitement of that final march to the goal line. They also remember seeing the players urging on the crowd to get loud for them. They know you're out there...so BE there.

 

Here's hoping for a packed house when the Tomcats come knocking on the Bird Cage this Friday. :thumb:

Highlands has every thing to lose and Ashland has nothing to lose, just maybe another close game for the bluebirds.

... I'm one who likes to play the percentages, and the percentages say that if you aren't from Park Hills, or can't defend on the corner kick (East Jessamine), you are probably going to leave Ft Thomas without a victory. Most likely it won't be pretty, this isn't Dixie.

I know I did but I was at a former Bluebird's wedding reception knocking back the goose. I literally didnt see what happened in this game until I picked up the morning paper (way too early might I add). It kind of reminded me of when I was a kid and I was too young to go to the games and had to rely on the newspaper and not the internet immediately after ballgames or at 4am. LOL

 

Birds will have a very focused week of practice and come out firing on all cylinders. I hope Ashland brings a ton of fans to be quite honest, there is nothing better than a packed house on friday night.

Ashland has a speedy runningback that's for sure. I believe broke loose for a 80 yard td last night against Dixie. Don't hold me to that though!

 

Carter actually broke loose a couple of times...the first was a 72 yard touchdown run that got called back for holding on us, (which was a really bad call, seeing that they called it at the 28 yd line and then even moved it back to the 20 yd line on us) then the second was an 82 yd touchdown run. He didn't get the nickname "Lightning" for nothing!!!!

I think the senior leadership steps up this week and "motivates" the team to a win on Friday night. HHS 28-7.

Ashland simply does not have enough defense to stop Highlands...
