Sure was!...second "pick" this season. One against Colerain and last night's against BS. If he could ONLY find the endzone....(lol).

What the heck is he playing on the line for could possibly be an all state def. back.;)

I hope Ashland can make this a game.

It looks like there's a good chance Highlands could win this one by forfeit. That is, if the Tomcats read the Ashland Daily Independent. ;)

Ashland's local paper seems to be under the impression that we play our home games at Beechwood. From the paper:

The Tomcats will play against top-ranked Fort Thomas Highlands in Fort Mitchell next week. Highlands had a struggle with Bryan Station, winning 28-22.

And we thought it was bad when the Cov Cath guys thought they were playing in "Johnsonville!"

They will probably look around and sure "sure is a lot of red around here" for a team called the Bluebirds

After doing a little research, I personally don't think Ashland will pose much of a threat to the Birds the way Station did.

Ashland doesn't match up well with the Birds speed and they aren't a very big team.

I think Highlands gets things back on track in a big way and you'll see Dale add a few wrinkles offensively that wasn't seen against BS.

Highlands 49

Ashland 14

I think Highlands was it's own foe Friday night against BS. It would of been a bigger win for the Birds, if they hadn't shot themselves in the foot so many times with fumbles and other mistakes. I think they take it out on Ashland big time!!!! Highlands 42 Ashland 7:dancingpa

Bryan Station was an unbelievable athletic size wise and speed wise team. They had momentum and will to win this game. Each and every player played their hearts out. However, on the last drive where the game really counted, I felt that the 2 offsides penalties on Bryan are what kept it alive for Highlands.

Granted, Highlands had just way too many penalties during the entire game, but in my opinion these last two by Bryan were key.

I too picked Highlands, however, I just can't see a 5 TD spread like some are predicting. I'll say Highlands by 14. I hope I'm wrong and Ashland wins. That's gonna be a tall order on the road.

In the NFL, there is a saying that... "on any Sunday"... any team can win. I think that would be true for high school football as well...."on any Friday" any team can win. If the Bluebirds didn't believe that before Bryan Station, they had better believe it now. Confidence is great, but overconfidence can and will lose games. Admit it, the Bluebirds were just plain lucky.

Admit it, the Bluebirds were just plain lucky.
No, luck didn't win that game. It dang near lost it...but no more so than did the effort and abilities of the opposition.

Highlands will win by 3 TD's. No disrespect for Ashland, I've seen both teams play, and Ashland is not in the same level as HHS.

HHS played bad against BS, that was overconfidence, looking past the first two rounds, weather, and trying to put Josh back into the system after being out for several weeks. This is a top 3 team in the state no matter the level.

Oliver Head is probably the defensive MVP for the Birds. To use him at feature back would diminish his much needed speed and hitting on defense. And let's face it, defense wins championships! Give Ollie some spot carries, as he can be lightning in a bottle, but let the others carry the O...while O carries the D!!

If I picked with my heart it would be a rout for the Tomcats, but sadly I can't do that. I hope my post motivates the Tomcats again, and I can post early next Saturday morning how the Tomcats proved me wrong once again.

Mixing up one "Fort" with another is hardly comparable to the mythical destination of "Johnsonville".

I've been in NKY enough to know all the "Forts" are pretty much interchangeable, sans their football teams, anyway...

;)

Highlands close call at Bryan Station will help them take the championship next month. This game wont be close , Ashland has been overated all year, not taking anything away from them on a good year but this game is over.
