I absolutely loved this quote from Bob Beatty today:

 

Beatty used Cincinnati St. X's last game, a 17-10 win over Don Bosco (N.J.) Prep, which was then ranked No. 4 in the USA Today Super 25, as an example.

 

"No disrespect to Don Bosco, but I'll play them today with no game plan," said Beatty, who attended the game last Saturday with members of his coaching staff. "I'm not saying that to sound cocky; I'm saying that with confidence. … I read and heard so much about Don Bosco Prep, then I saw them in real life."

 

This guy is confident, cocky and can flat out coach. That's why Louisville Trinity is THE BEST (sorry 'Birds) high school program in the state of Kentucky.

 

I think the larger issue is national high school rankings are a joke. Always have been and always will be.

Oh wow. Mad props to Trinity.

Just saw that Trinity won on the Tennessee boards and had to come over and give a shout out. MBA had a big win in Ohio a few weeks, so it certainly is nice for our "lower tier" states in TN and KY to get big wins over teams from a football-rich state like OH. I was at the Herbstreit games this year and heard that St. X had a fabulous defense, so putting 17 on them is a chore in and of itself, as funny as it sounds.

 

Congratulations.

Oh, of course. High school rankings in football by nature can't be consistent. There just isn't enough common competition. But I love Beatty's quote!:thumb:

Messina had a great game. Whiting had a hit on a kick return that you could hear in the rafters, right before the crowd went "OHHHHHHHH". McCauley (#45) was everywhere tonight on D as well.

 

The X OL looked like a seive almost all night, and the QB wasn't what I expected from that caliber of school.

 

My Tigers are gonna need to bring their "A" game in two weeks to beat Trinity.

 

I heard two Bomber parents in the john talking about their "rash" of injuries at the end of the game. I got the feeling most were fake from the way they were joking about it. That was a little disappointing, cause there were about 6-7 X injuries at the end when they needed to stop the clock.

A statement win for the Shamrocks!

I thought St. X was very slow and too one dimensional on offense. They ran 5 wide just about every play and very rarely stretched the field. Maybe it's because they don't have nearly the speed they had last year. Their o-line was very porous and couldn't block smaller defensive linemen.

 

I don't think X is very good this year. The true test for Trinity will be in 2 weeks versus Louisville St. X in front of 38,000.

 

I thought X was out hit tonight, which doesn't happen very often when we play the Ohio schools.

 

Looks to be a long year for the Bombers.

 

Nevertheless, it's always nice to beat the GCL schools. Great win Rocks.

Trinity will be moving up in the rankings after this win. Rivals.com had Trinity ranked #71 iand St. X (OH) ranked #15.
