I haven't heard anyone say the Massa injury was why X lost. Only that if he is gone for the season, things get very tough for X down the road. Doubt you can find a team from coast to coast with a more challenging 10 week schedule than Cincy X this year.

Like I told you on the phone, and what has been spoken about in this thread. I can't really remember being this physical in awhile. Maybe the X-T championship game in 2005 against Vic....Trinity was downright nasty tonight, and I wouldn't have wanted to be getting hit by them....wow, I came away impressed, but also very reserved because I still feel that Louisville X is the best team that we will see this season.

Fantastic and congratulations T. :thumb: I'd like to think that this loss by what had been considered a very solid Ohio school to a Ky school might cause more of my Cincinnati brethren to start giving Ky football some serious respect (although to be fair some of the more intelligent ones already have), but some of those Buckeyes will come up with all kind of excuses why T won other than the fact that T was just better. Great job Rocks. I'm very happy for you guys, but hopefully you'll understand why I'll be cheering for Lou X to beat you guys down the road. Go Tigers!:banana:

Taking nothing away from Trinity's win (and Highland's closer than expected game against Colerain) and I certainly congratulate them both, I do think that Cincy football at the top end is down from where it has been in the recent past.

A giant step in preparation for a shot at #19. A district foe awaits next week.

So will the Rocks be cocky now against the other X program....?(Huge win. Impressive performance. Beatty seemed to be at his best).

Colerain was very young and fast. Tyler Williams #1 is only 5'7" 150 lbs but one of the fastest kids you will see in high school. He's only a sophomore. This kid is gonna be special.

 

It was asked earlier in the thread how this Colerain team compares to the Colerain teams in the past 10 years. Not sure about the past ten years but IMO, this Colerain team wouldn't beat any of the Colerain teams in the past 5 years. They are just to young and inexperienced. It seemed that everyone who ran the ball was a sophomore and everyone who made a tackle on there lightening fast defense was a junior or sophomore. Colerain will have an impressive record this season because their schedule just isn't that tough. They should be a better team by years end but I really don't see them being a real threat to win state. But in the next two years, look out!

 

If there was ever a year Highlands could beat a Cincy big school, this may be the year, although I wonder if Highlands will be able to handle Colerains speed, especially on that Colerain defense.

 

St X. was a little tougher to gauge because Massa and the stud linemen were out. I do believe if Massa could have played it would have changed the whole offensive game plan for X. IMO, X. may have been able to pull off the win. The two back-up QB's did not play very well and made a lot of mistakes. St. X and Colerain's defense were way ahead of their respective offense's. Tyler Williams had a couple of big plays which resulted in two td's for Colerain but other than that, both teams struggled to move the ball at all on offense. Overall, a somewhat boring game. Didn't have the feel of the past St. X.-Colerain games. Maybe because it was the first game of the season and not a playoff atmosphere.

 

St. X. better improve or they may walk away, make that limp away, from the Trinity game like Elder did a few years ago.

I have very little to add to this, but I need to add that this is the first time that I have ever seen a GCL school manhandled physically in a game, especially against a KY team. I didn't really know what to expect. Our defense was so, very, very physical that I got chills a few times. I guarantee that X had some serious nicks and bruises at the end of this battle. The crowd looked disappointing but I bet there were about 10-12K paid tickets. I am kind of speechless in that I didn't expect us to win with our defense, and we sure did...they laid the wood on the field tonight...Offensively we have tons, and tons of work to do, we have got to find our running game or we'll get embarrassed against the Louisville Xaverians in two weeks.

 

I am going to echo those sentiments. I thought that the defense was downright spectacular, but the offense does need some work if we are to take home #19 this season. I am happy with the performance overall of the team thus far, but until I see a win against Louisville St.X I am going to be a bit hesitant about the O.

How far into the game did Massa go out?

Congrats Rocks. This no so surprise to me. The Trinity gameplan was perfect. Like I said in a earlier post this is the best Trinity defense in at least 20 years. This team will be hard to beat.
