I'm still looking for something on Jones but can't find anything

 

Jones returned to the game and looked fine...

 

He should be ok and good to go in pratice this week...

A win is a win and 3-0 is great...Having said that, The Cats have a lot to improve on or they will start to get smacked on a weekly basis once conference play starts.

 

MTSU is a good team and gave it all they had...they have nothing to be disappointed about though I'm sure they are.

 

A much needed bye week this week...Hopefully Micah Johnson, Ricky Lumpkin, and Randall Cobb heal up and are ready for the Tide in a few weeks.

Kentucky tried every way possible to lose this game.

 

The only bright spot for thsi entire team is the defensive front. Although they didn't get a sack, they stopped the run. The secondary was terrible, and kicking was terrible, outside of the punter.

 

And no surprise, the offense was terrible. Honestly, I don't think Hartline could pass the ball against no defense. Seriously, in the past two games, he has had six passes that were totally off because he didn't realize the play and the receiver cut back. I honestly have no clue what he was thinking.

 

Tony Dixon is the third best back on this team.

 

Play Randall Cobb whenever he is healthy and never let him out.

 

Per the coaching staff, too many recievers are running the wrong routes. I thought Hartline played very well. He checked into the right plays more often than not and his deeper throws are getting better. His intermediate throws are very accurate. Once again, there were a few drops that didn't help him. I also think UK fans got used to players like Burton, Tamme and Johnson making the catches that some of these receivers are missing.

 

Brooks stated that they are rotating too many recievers thru the lineup and that will stop as many of the more experienced recievers aren't doing their job and the younger ones will have to step up. He said the past week of practice was horrible and they seemed to be going thru the motions and he explained that to them after the game. His comment to Leach was that if the focus in practice and games improved, they could be a pretty good football team, ... it not, they won't. I do respect his honesty and my understanding from one of the players was that Brooks was livid.

 

However, on the upside, you can tell the who aura around the program is different the past few years. 4+ years ago, UK finds a way to lose this game. Now, somebody seems to make a play to win it.

Jones returned to the game and came up with a big play on the last defensive series that UK turned MTSU over on downs. The fact you didn't hear his name anymore after the injury is a positive as he covered very well.

A win is a win. But saying that UK still needs to improve offensively to compete in the SEC. Hartline looked better. It seems after Cobb left the game, they had Hartline doing little to no audibles at the line. It seemed to work for him. He has to have some help from the receiving core. Lyons,Jr was on, and also think they need to utilize the TE more. The other WR's need to do some sole searching. Thought the D looked good except on the long pass plays, but those plays count. The MTSU running backs seemed to kill UK on the pass plays out of the backfield with LB's trying to cover.

Mastay and Trydlacka looked great on punts and Seiber was Seiber, that position needs to be looked at hard.

But a win is a win.

I don't like the fact that people look at the stats of Hartline to judge his game. Obviously, we don't have the WR we had in the past seasons, so I give Hartline a pass for a few of them.

 

But where watching Hartline hurts the most, is whenever he is being pressured and has already went backwards, passes a few feet foward to avoid the sack, and then the receiver is plowed for a loss of two yards.

 

Hopefully, as the year goes on he fixes it, but under pressure, Hartline locks in on the closest receiver, covered or not.

 

I also think in the red zone, he throws too many passes away. He is eventually going to have to take a chance or make a play.

 

I hope Hartline gets better. I'm not doing these to bash him, but just explain what I see.

I avoided the score all night and watched the replay...and man was I surprised :lol:

 

What an ending. Kentucky is lucky to win that game.

Tydlacka did a fantastic job pinning MTSU deep on the short punts. Very high and accurate.

I thought MTSU did a great job of spreading us out and getting a RB the ball in the middle of the field where they would have a LB in coverage.

This game scared me to death, UK is very lucky to get the win here.

You know I went back and watched the replay of that last play a couple more times....I think that there should have been a pass interference call made on Braxton Kelly. Their receiver went up in the air and Kelly hit him well before the ball got there, that was what caused the tip that was eventually corralled by MTSU in the first place. Thank goodness it wasn't called otherwise they'd have had an untimed play from about the 16. Very scary game but a win is a win. Now the Cats have 2 weeks to get better.

If you watched the replay, you can also see that a two extra seconds ticked off the clock after the guy returning the blocked FG went out of bounds.

 

That last play should have started with 10 seconds on the clock.

 

Not that it an extra 2 seconds would have meant anything...we were very lucky to win that game.
