My three questions following this game:

 

1. Why kick? I was at a sports bar with about 25 other Cat fans and when we saw Seiber walk out to kick that FG we all knew exactly what was coming next

 

2. Why do you continue to go back to the screen pass time after time when it was 3rd and Medium? The middle screen and wide receiver screen wasn't there all night.

 

3. Why not give another kicker a shot? It wasn't as if Seiber was "off" tonight, this is the story of HIS ENTIRE CAREER!

 

On the positive side:

- UK's Punt Game was phenominal! Tydlacka and Masthay were constantly pinning MTSU inside the 20.

 

- Loved the Cats composure to come back and make big defensive stands

 

- The defense had some issues when they would drag the WR across the middle, but otherwise they once again stepped up big. If the offense can find some type of groove they can compete against anyone.

 

- T.C. Drake was HUGE tonight, and DLJ also played his heart out at WR

Great game, finish was amazing.

 

Hartline looked good.

 

Middle Tennessee is a good team, they beat Maryland who had Cal down 20 today.

 

Kentucky still has a long way to go, I don't think they can hang with Bama, UF, UGA, and UT this year.

 

UF and UGA would take some major offensive improvement

 

Bama has some matchups that pose well for UK vs. their offense. UK's defense can cause Bama some major issues.

 

UT's offense and QB has looked just as dicey as UK...remember that UCLA team that beat them? Yeah they got beat 59-0 today... UT does not impress me.

I just saw a high light of the last couple plays of the game.

 

After the blocked FG, the guy ran out of bounds with 10 seconds left on the clock. 2 extra seconds ran off.

 

We were very lucky to win this game.

UK's punt game was great with an average of 45.0 yards per punt and 4 out of 6 downed inside the 20 and another on the 20 with a touchback. However, all of the punts were by Masthay, Tydlacka didn't punt tonight.

The year we lost to the Cats we had 4th and three and instead of giving it to Shaun we tried the field goal. It was blocked and UK got a TD and we lost in OT. We had stopped the Cats the whole 4th quarter and if Shaun doesn't get the First down the Cats had to go 70 yards.

Don't kick the FG, run the ball and let your D stop them. Don't they have a great D?

I also watched the game via PPV and had major flashes of the LSU game. It was on the same side of the field and the same type of tip ball and everything.

 

UK did play horrendous, but still got the W.

A few positives:

-I thought before M. Johnson got hurt, he was playing his best game in a cats uniform and hope he is healthy for the WKU game.

-Hartline looked much better the last few drives, but I still think Cobb gives the Cats their best chance of winning.

-Dicky Lyons Jr.,the D-line, and the punters had great games!

 

I also think Locke should be getting 20+ touches a game.

 

Overall, if UK plays like this against Alabama they will get run off the field,

but hey, atleast they are still undefeated and I'm gonna enjoy it while last!!!

 

P.S. I also agree with the statement that we need to get a receiver rotation going because outside of Lyons, they are a mess.

 

P.P.S. I agree that the FG should not have been tried, but come on. This is not high school football, it's SEC players and there is no excuse for not being able to at least get off a FG even if he doesn't come close to making it.

Yeah but how many times do you see a game turn on a blocked kick? Appy State last season and East Carolina this season immediately come to mind. I would think that there is a much greater chance of a team blocking a kick rather than going 90 yards in less than 30 seconds with not timeouts. There's really no way to defend a blocked kick, a better bounce for MTSU and they scoop and score. At least with a set defense you have more control over what happens--even with the tipped pass and the completion we had someone back there to make the tackle.

Okay from who I've talked to it seems Cobb suffered a high ankle sprain. I'm not sure on the severity of it but who knows. Also I believe Micah suffered the same injury. Anybody want to confirm with me on this? Just to make sure I'm right...

Like I said, I agree that the FG should not have been tried and this would not even be an issue. My point is that it doesn't even matter where the kick goes as long as he gets it off, and I feel that in the other games that you mentioned that there is no excuse for not being able to block someone for 2-3 secinds.

Uk gave up 355 through the air.....that has me freaked out for when MTSU comes here.

They had 355, but 175 of those came on three passes. One was a short catch and run for their first TD, where a defender fell down.

Another one was an acrobatic catch for 60 and then the last play.

UK defense was very good in the second half.

Well thankfully its not too serious of an injury, hopefully they'll be ready next week. We are gonna need them..

I think that UK will be just fine in the long run, they simply laid an egg tonight, hopefully those injuries will not hamper them too long.

 

I thought Hartline was fairly solid and half of their gameplan went out the window when Cobb went down.

Their WR other than Lyons are killing them.
