He also costed the university a few hundred thousand dollars when he blew the kick that should've beaten UT last season. That was the difference between the Music City Bowl and a bigger bowl. If he made the kick, at least 1 goalpost would have been ripped down - maybe both. And the university would have had to pay the fine for the fans storming onto the field. It would be well worth it, though. I can't believe we lost that game.

I can possibly see it if you have a kicker that is automatic, but that was just a stupid call by Brooks.If he runs the ball for one more play, MTSU has close to 90 yards to go in less than 30 seconds. I hope Brooks learned his lesson tonight. Coach Brooks has done a great job with this program. However I still very much question some of his in game decisions. There has been some very questionable ones the last few years, that haven't made much sense. But that is the only thing I question right now with him anymore. He has done a great job, and as long as we keep winning that is all that matters.

Last year both times we stormed the field for UL and LSU. The security had already taken the goal post down so no one could tear them down.

September 15, 200818 yr You know I went back and watched the replay of that last play a couple more times....I think that there should have been a pass interference call made on Braxton Kelly. Their receiver went up in the air and Kelly hit him well before the ball got there, that was what caused the tip that was eventually corralled by MTSU in the first place. Thank goodness it wasn't called otherwise they'd have had an untimed play from about the 16. Very scary game but a win is a win. Now the Cats have 2 weeks to get better. Pass interference is a 15 yard penalty in college football. The untimed play you mention as a result of a pass interference call against Kentucky would have been from just inside of mid-field.
September 15, 200818 yr I completely disagree. MTSU was much more likely to score off of a broken play than they were to have off of a hail mary against a set defense. There is no defense for a blocked kick. As for the hail mary, everything worked out just right for MTSU but they were simply too far away to score, had UK ran the ball they either would have gotten the first down or made MTSU attempted the pass from 25 yards farther away. If we had a kicker that was any good I would agree with you. With Sieber he was not playing the %'s.
September 16, 200818 yr I wasn't even sure David Jones was really hurt. I love the kid but that play he went down on he got juked out of his shoes! BUT, he came back in the game the next series and his man didn't catch ANY balls the ENTIRE game. Two games in a row, Jones man has had ZERO receptions. From my seat, I will hold my breath a bit if he is the last man to make the tackle in open field, but he does lock down his guy. Been hearing some BAD injury reports. Sucks bad. Still // 3-0

September 16, 200818 yr Hartline played well. SEC player of the week says something. Just gotta find that guy who can make tough catches over the middle. IF they can find two or three guys who can catch the ball and run routes well enough, I would put Dickie in the slot and try to get some favorable matchups. Maybe even use Grinter in the slot some?
