Jim Schue
My favorite REM tune is "So. Central Rain."
cooperstown
Jesse's Girl by Rick Springfield would have to go down as one of the top ten songs in the entire 80's. Actually, Springfield had quite a few good tunes but was always somewhat dismissed as bubble gum pop because of his looks. My wife and I are going to see him in concert this coming Friday night in Dayton at Fraize Pavilion.
letabrotherspeak
Not the real video (copyright issues, I guess), but kind of funny rethinking of this great tune. Outfield - "Your Love" Loved The Outfield. Their greatest hits CD is in my rotation....

letabrotherspeak
JS, what do you think of these songs, by Glass Tiger? I am not as advanced with the links as you. Both videos do the songs an injustice. Also from video one, who is the guy singing backup at the end of the song? Very successful singer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsIEos5IiD0 and this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm4xNlxznfs&feature=related
Birdsfan
As for the 80's, I have to go with "The Boss".....Springsteen and of course this guy with one of my all time favorite songs "Leader of the Band" along with "Run for the Rose's". I still can't get through listening to "Leader of the Band" w/o getting emotional........... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy3GHCy49Dw Fogelberg was around earlier with other bands but his 1981 album with those songs along with the others on it was great, one of the best all time imo. I agree completely! Dan was da man! :thumb:
00Rocket28
There actually was a secondary hit after the first one, but only people like me recall such things. "Take On Me" by A-ha This was the first song that popped in my head after reading the first post:ylsuper:
Birdsfan
Jay and Silent Bob were right. It just doesn't get much cooler than Morris Day and The Time. You know Jim, you're really starting to scare me in this thread... ...because I'm agreeing with you on almost everything! :scared: Jungle Love was one of my all time favorite videos. The Electric Slide was too awesome!
Jim Schue
One of the best things about ABBA is how delightfully dramatic all their songs seemed.
Birdsfan
One of the best things about ABBA is how delightfully dramatic all their songs seemed. Now you've touched on Run To State's favorite band. In fact, few know that he was once a member of an ABBA tribute band.* *And if he keeps picking on me in the smoking thread...I'm going to prove it. Bryan Adams) in a stack at the parents'. Or, it may have been for "Someday." One or the other. The videos haven't aged as well, however.

Jim Schue
I think most people would agree that Bono has gotten pretty annoying in recent years. And while U2 has always done the topical songs, one of its strengths (a seemingly forgotten one by Bono) has also been the jaw-droppingly beautiful love song that just seems to wash all over you. letabrotherspeak
Those Sony folks are making you take the extra step, but it wouldn't be the '80s without Cyndi Lauper. Girl Just Want To Have Fun "She Bop" is the much cooler tune, tho. :sssh: Captain Lou Albano with a cameo in the video.
