Woodson Would Be A Legend After A Performance Like That

Featured Replies

Forget Brohm against UConn for a minute...Why doesn't that loss against USC hurt Woodson's chances?

Your the 1 who keeps bringing up Brohm!

It has. I even said the same thing after the game. But the last 2 games and the first 5 games he has been outstanding. Hey if UK were 7-1 right now and Woodson had a great game against South Carolina he would be the #1 candidate. Right now he is probably 3rd.

Im not sure to this point Woodson deserves it over Tebow. IMO I think Woodson has done better this year than Ryan though.

The loss to USC does hurt his chances, but the win over LSU lessens it somewhat, and let's not forget about Brohm putting up 17 against UCONN that would hurt his chances if he hadn't lost four games.

The point in bringing Ryan's record into question is this....You all say Brohm has no chance because of his team's record, and that's fine, I agree. But using that same logic, you HAVE to say Ryan has the 1-up on Woodson, do you not?

I think the difference is that Woodson/Brohm are in the same realm as far as stats. Brohm gets more yards, but Woodson has more TDs/fewer INTs.

Ryan just isn't impressive. Aside from being 8-0, his stats aren't really impressive.

Woodson - 191/295 - 2201 yards - 64.7% - 7.46 ypa - 26 TD - 4 INT - 153.79 rating

Brohm - 230/338 - 2993 yards - 68.0% - 8.86 ypa - 24 TD - 6 INT - 162.31 rating

Ryan - 217/356 - 2433 yards - 61.0% - 6.83 ypa - 19 TD - 8 INT - 131.48 rating

All these guys have stats that are as good as Ryan's, and nobody talks about them being in the race.

Sam Bradford - 144/209 - 1872 yards - 68.9% - 8.96 ypa - 20 TD - 5 INT - 170.93 rating

Cullen Harper - 150/235 - 1803 yards - 63.8% - 7.7 ypa - 19 TD - 4 INT - 151.55 rating

Curis Painter - 213/339 - 2238 yards - 62.8% - 6.6 ypa - 22 TD - 6 INT - 136.16 rating

Nate Davis - 166/293 - 2286 yards - 56.7% - 7.8 ypa - 20 TD - 3 INT - 142.67 rating

Kellen Lewis - 163/265 - 1952 yards - 61.5% - 7.4 ypa - 19 TD - 6 INT - 142.52 rating

Willie Tuitama - 219/347 - 2293 yards - 63.1% - 6.6 ypa - 16 TD - 8 INT - 129.23 rating

(edit: I took out Brohm/Woodson/Ryan rushing TDs, b/c I didn't add them to the rest of the guys. TDs listed are only passing TDs)

What was beautiful on that last throw was the two offensive lineman that grabbed the defensive lineman's jersey and dragged him to the ground. The most beautiful part is that there was no call.

While there may have been a no call on that one, ... you can't take away from the fact that the throw itself was VERY impressive.

It obviously hurt his chances. I don't see Ryan have much of a shot at winning either though............I would take Brohm's chances over Ryan's, he's a better QB. VT should have kept the pressure on Ryan since he did not handle it well at all, but they went to predominantly a 3 man rush which led to their loss.

It all but ruined his chances at that time IMO, and then the LSU win put him right back in the thick of things.

I don't know who is going to win, but I don't think it will be either of the 3 QBs that we are debating in this thread.

If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts....

 I knew that would be your comeback! Truth or not? Ryan isn't even being mentioned if Boston College doesn't hold a top 10 team under 2 scores? Truth or not if KY's defense held top 10 teams under 2 scores then Woodson is the frontrunner?

Truth or not, if UL hadn't lost to SU and Utah, Brohm would be the frontrunner....We can play that game all afternoon.

I've made it through this whole thread and I am dizzy from all the spinning.

Good stuff.

Just to summarize from another thread:

An AP Poll of actual Heisman voters has Tebow over Ryan (before last night) over Woodson.

Jeff Sagarin, fairly respected voice on Collegiate Athletics, has installed Woodson the betting favorite, followed by Tebow.

GT, your attempt to spin this Heisman conversation like "Big Blue Nation" (your favorite term) is the only one propping up Andre' for the Heisman is clearly silly. I know you like to rattle the cages of some UK fans, but this isn't some far fetched idea hatched up by UK faithful.

Good post.

Jeff Sagarin NCAA football ratings

UK is 12th in the nation

UL 53rd in the nation

2007 NCAA ratings by conference

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbc07.htm

Kentucky is 4th in the SEC behind LSU, Florida & Auburn

Louisville is 6th is the Big East behind So. Florida, W. VA., Conn., Rutgers & Cincinnati

I don't think you want to play that game. UofL plays in a stink conference and still can't win the games. BC schedule isn't exactly SEC claibur either. Woodson and company has been right there in the hunt in both of their losses against the Top 20 and the defending national champs. It isn't Woodson's fault the UK D' couldn't stop UF. Woodson played 110% or better to win that game vs. UF, his numbers and leadership showed it.

Put BC and uofl in that conference, theres a laugh for you to choke on.

Man the SEC argument is getting old. You say it's not Woodson's fault that the D couldn't stop UF so why is UofL's poor defense Brohm's fault? His numbers and leadership are equal to Woodson's if not better. Stink conference? SEC homerism must be contagious... I don't think you want to play that game.

Woodson is deep in the Heisman race. I've never said otherwise. I was plain and simple making fun of the whirlwind of heat directed at anyone else outside the SEC in the debate. Do you disagree that if Woodson had come to life after 57 bad minutes to propel UK to a victory people would have been losing it about Woodson being the clear leader or whatever vernacular of terms used to promote their guy? Going up and down the dial today I've heard several say that last night made Ryan the leader after 14 holes.

As I said, go read the update thread for the inspiration. Where did I say UK fans were the only one putting Woodson in the race? Surely you wouldn't try putting words in my mouth...
