Featured Replies

For consideration about Ryan, here is the BC schedule:

09/01/07 vs. Wake Forest Chestnut Hill, Mass. W, 38-28

09/08/07 vs. North Carolina State Chestnut Hill, Mass. W, 37-17

09/15/07 at Georgia Tech Atlanta, Ga. W, 24-10

09/22/07 vs. Army Chestnut Hill, Mass. W, 37-17

09/29/07 vs. Massachusetts Chestnut Hill, Mass. W, 24-14

10/06/07 vs. Bowling Green Chestnut Hill, Mass. W, 55-24

10/13/07 at Notre Dame Notre Dame, Ind. W, 27-14

10/25/07 at Virginia Tech Blacksburg, Va. W, 14-10

11/03/07 vs. Florida State Chestnut Hill, Mass. TBA

11/10/07 at Maryland College Park, Md. TBA

11/17/07 at Clemson Clemson, S.C. TBA

11/24/07 vs. Miami Chestnut Hill, Mass. TBA

Not a very imposing schedule. There are some good teams on it but not any great teams.

Yes sir. :thumb: But we both know that a defense has cost Mr. Brohm a chance at the trophy, so shouldn't the same be used against Mr. Woodson?

If Mr. Woodson's team were 4-4 then yes. However, UK stands with a 6-2 record, which is the same as many people's leader, Mr. Tebow.

And Ryan's is 8-0. That was my point.

UK hasn't lost enough for Woodson to be out of it yet is the only difference. If they lose one more, he becomes a longshot. If they lose two more, he's done, IMO. That would give him the same 4 losses that have put Brohm out of it.

The only difference is that UKs losses are to tougher competition, and UK wasn't picked to make BCS noise before the season. If UK ends up 9-4, it will be viewed as a pretty successful season. UofL at 9-4 is a disappointment. Thats going to affect voters views (right or not) of the QBs.

I think if you look at the competition he is playing its not too hard to see how they are 8-0. Also, in 8 games the Woodson-led offense has only been held under 40 points twice (23 vs. South Carolina and 38 vs. Florida).

Boston College has only scored over 40 1 time all season. Matt Ryan is definitly a deserving candidate, but its easy to see that he hasn't been more dominant than any of the other candidates.

And yet Tebow is still the leader in many people's eyes. See my point?

The point in bringing Ryan's record into question is this....You all say Brohm has no chance because of his team's record, and that's fine, I agree. But using that same logic, you HAVE to say Ryan has the 1-up on Woodson, do you not?

I dont think you are taking into account SOS to this point, and what has been done against that schedule. You know its not as simple as you state it.

Last night was the first I had seen of Ryan, so I am not going to base my opinion of him off of one game, so I dont know if he is deserving or not. I see both points, so why cant you?

The difference here is Brohm's record vs. competition that simply is not that tough. I still thought he was a candidate until his subpar, non-Brohm like performance against UConn last Friday night.

I do see your point...That doesn't mean I agree with it. And I honestly do not believe that a 9-3 or 10-2 Woodson would win it over a 12-0 Ryan...

So why doesn't Woodson's performance against USC hurt him? I still haven't figured that one out.

I think it all depends on if Ryan plays really well and they go 12-0. If he plays like he did last night for the most part the rest of the year and Woodson keeps playing like he is and winning, I think it should go to Woodson or someone else. If Ryan has some big games from here on out and goes 12-0 then he has to be strongly considered.

Probably not. That is fine by me if so. It's pretty obvious the Heisman isnt always an accurate indicator of the best player, or even the best at that position.

Gino Torretta and Jason White are somewhere smiling.

He still managed to lead his team to 23 points against 1 of the best passing defenses in the nation. Brohm did not do that against UConn.

Forget Brohm against UConn for a minute...Why doesn't that loss against USC hurt Woodson's chances?
