The amount of people online worked up about this is wild to me. He’s was the third or fourth best player on a team that nobody enjoyed watching go 22-14. Do I trust Pope can find someone better? Not s

I'm guessing what players are left, they're not worth much.

There are some good players left. Only issue those players also are testing out the NA draft waters. They have until the end of May to drop out. So if you want them, you are playing the waiting game and having to hope they drop out of the draft and also choose you. So definitely not a good spot to be in. As someone else said, most like Pope will need to go for a few more international type players.

Not good at all. Worst part is, with the AD change about to happen. UK really can’t even really make a change right now, even if they know this is not working. Literally stuck having to let this play out, and hope Pope somehow proves everyone wrong. If not, then the new AD next year can hire his own guy. Unfortunately UK is stuck and probably a wasted year coming.

Stuck is correct, you couldn't hire anyone at this point anyway.

If true, not only did Kentucky whiff, they got played in a major way.  Led by the nose into an even worse disaster.

What a mess, 18/19 year old kids pulling the wool over the eyes of the educators.

Really don't care about the Stokes stuff. I'm just glad I won't have to hear about it anymore. Pope needs to find a couple more solid players for next season and keep moving forward.

I just can’t see him still being HC 365 days from now.

He never should have been to start with, but a large chunk of the fan base was giddy about him.

A new name to Keep an eye on Stefan Joksimovic. 6-6 – Slovenia SF

I guess my question is, the way things look now, UK will struggle next year, unless Pope does just an outstanding job coaching, which being honest has not looked like a strong possibility. This is not to bash Pope but trying to be as objective as I can, who do you think UK could get to come coach?

Again, let's keep it real. UK fan base was not very kind at the end of Tubby's tenure, Billy Clyde, well that was a train wreck, and then the end of Cal's tenure, the fan base had all they wanted of losing to 15 seeds, and first round exits from the tournament.

We just watched UNC, hire an NBA coach, that I had to google when I heard the name because I had no clue who he was.  So, considering the fan base and how rough they have been on coaches who could UK get and who would want this job?

I don't think well known coaches wanted to follow Cal.  You don't want to follow the guy...you want to follow the guy who follows the guy.

With todays landscape, however, why would a good coach who may have a good set up at another school with NIL want to to step into the microscope of Coaching UK.  Money is the ticket now, not the name of the school.

Kentucky is meeting with Márcio Santos. Pope is Flying to Israel Per KSR. Santos, a 6-foot-8 center with Maccabi Tel Aviv, averaged 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, one assist, and 0.6 blocks during the 2025-26 Winner League Season with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

This is disgusting, when he could have signed a better player just twenty miles down the road.

Why do you think he is a better player?
