I don't think he'll be allowed to. The board recommendations specified that current players would not be grandfathered in.

If it passes, players going forward will have 5 years of eligibility starting after they turn 19 or graduate High School... whichever comes first.

What? Five years of eligibility? Players will be allowed five seasons? Not five years to get four seasons in?

Yes, but nothing extra. Redshirt would count as one, get hurt counts as one. Basically the clock starts ticking when you graduate high school and when it’s over, you’re done.

Yes five years, this proposal has been on the table for a while.

Pope is going to have to do an unbelievable job of coaching next year, because man. I just can’t see him still being HC 365 days from now.

Ugh another miss. The money saved hopefully can get a few of the remaining talent left.
 

The issue with Pope is just don’t know if he can win at the level needed here. He has really never won anywhere he has been. He should be able to make the occasional sweet 16, since he will get better talent here than he did at other places. Who knows maybe could one day pull off an elite 8 run. I just don’t think he can put together the talent needed to win it all. 
 

Once again I hope I am wrong.
