By a 15-2 vote, the Board voted to add Girls’ Flag Football to the docket in the spring of 2027-2028. The majority vote favored the spring season over the fall season when the data was collected.

 

I wonder what this will do to Fast Pitch softball? How will this sport be affected since Girls Flag Football, will now be a spring sport?

Adding sports is GREAT for the student athletes!

Finding quality folks to officiate said sports is becoming harder and harder. I hope this doesn’t dilute an already slim pool of official candidates as I would think some of the folks that do football in the fall also do baseball/softball in the spring.

I know it’s been said before but Conferences is the way this is heading.

If using RPI for 2nd round, if you dissolve Districts and move to Conferences, you can use RPI (or something BETTER!!!) for Playoff seeding.

And if you think CAL had some easy games and manhandled teams in 3A, wait until you watch their games vs Waggener, Valley and Shelby County. 

Instead of a multiplier system, the KHSAA needs a promotion and relegation system. CAL should indeed move up to 4A and Waggener, Valley and Shelby County need to be dropped to 3A.

I believe you are correct, as that may be the only 2 districts with 6 teams. With that said also probably more so a coincidence that it happens to be with two teams that got moved up. As there has been 6 team districts even before this multiplier took effect.

4A District 2 also has six.

Well district 3 was going to be a 6 team district before Breckenridge requested to move to district 4. Also if CAL was still in 3A they'd probably be in district 3 and have a 6 team district anyway.

There's a bunch of Louisville area 4A schools and a cluster of 6 northern kentucky 5A schools. Not sure what they're supposed to do about that. There's always 6 team districts in 4A I know for sure.

I think you are directing your ire at the wrong people.  Open enrollment is not the problem.  The schools that refuse to have open enrollment is the problem.  

A school can't landlock themselves then get mad at the people that didn't do the same.

It's crazy to see some districts with 6 teams, and then some with 4. Spread the wealth and make each district even. Wishful thinking I suppose. 

I understand St. Henry is a private school forced to move up, I take it. However, as a newer program, I don't feel it's doing them any favors. I guess it's good Beechwood isn't in their district anymore. Will they still schedule the Tigers as a non district opponent? 

That game was a bloodbath last year. 

Regarding the NKY 5A class- 6 teams, wow. Are Scott and Boone County's programs on the upswing? I hate to see the Bluebirds in another class- I know it hasn't happened for several years, but I love when the Blue Colonels play them twice. 

For many moons, in the early/mid 2010's, the Birds owned the Colonels' numbers in both matchups until Eviston took the helm and righted the ship. 

Mueller and then Weinrich took care of biz against my Blue Colonels. Regardless, it was neat to play them twice. I hope this year we see them twice- with the team from Park Hills coming out victorious of course. ??

I did a double take at Russell and Letcher in the same district. That's pushing three hours on a bus.
