I'd argue the ones you listed are as well!

I think those two schools (Bethlehem and KCD) are informing the "oppressors" on the Board of Control and KHSAA how they are being discriminated against while previewing what their legal strategy will be if the BOC continues down this anti-private school path.

I think there is a clear distinction here between discrimination (the anti-private school multiplier) and a bunch of schools requesting a "better deal" for their school.

I like RPI a round earlier but the elephant in the room with RPI is addressing out of state games and until that is addressed RPI is subpar at best.

The reclassification plan is deficient and problematic on several grounds:

1. The Board of Control has articulated that the motivation behind the use of the multiplier is to "level the playing field" between private and public schools due to the perceived advantage private schools have in [redacted] student-athletes regardless of a student's residence. If this is the true motivation for the use of the multiplier, the reclassification plan must apply the multiplier to independent city schools, which utilize open enrollment and/or allow non-resident students to attend with the payment of tuition. As such, for purposes of the reclassification plan and the application of the multiplier, there should be no distinction between a private school and an independent city school. To my knowledge, the Board of Control has not articulated any difference between private schools and independent city schools, yet it has decided not to apply the multiplier to independent city schools. The result is an arbitrary application of the multiplier.

I think Bethlehem should tweak the basis for their objection here.  The KHSAA rules are the same for all schools meaning all schools can take students from outside their geographical area.  Some schools choose not to do so but again that is their choice, the "KHSAA residency rules" are the same for all schools and all schools can take students from outside their geographical area if they choose to do so.  Therefore, any multiplier based on residency is a moot point because the KHSAA rules are the same for all schools.

Do any county schools allow athletes living in another district play sports?

I believe Kenton County schools have open enrollment allowing students in the county to attend a school different from their "district". Is that different than an independent school allowing an out of district student attend?

How about Fayette County and Jefferson County? Are students restricted to attending the school in the geographic district they reside in?

I will reinforce @theguru's post above. In Kentucky, a student can attend any school in any county or district they choose. The school districts themselves are the ones who choose to keep out of district students out. So they put in their own rule keeping out of district students out and then are upset because other schools don't do the same? They created their own problem. If they don't like it, let out of district students in.

Guess I could be wrong about what all I'm remembering of it but I thought in 2021 or 2022 Kentucky passed a law that all districts have to have some measure in place for allowing non-resident students to attend, even though it may not be an 'open enrollment' type of situation. The Dept of Ed has all of the districts' policies published here- https://www.education.ky.gov/districts/enrol/Pages/Nonresident-Student-Policy.aspx?View=Non-Resident Policy&Title=Non-Resident Policies&Page=2

Looks like some districts are more of a case-by-case basis type of thing for enrolling non-residents and they keep their non-resident attendance policy 'quiet' by only having it published on the Dept of Ed website while other districts are wide open to non-resident enrollment and have their non-resident policy right there on their district website for anyone to be able to apply.

Boyle does- https://www.boyle.kyschools.us/enroll/nonresident

Campbell does- https://www.campbell.kyschools.us/page/nonresident-student-policies

Fayette does- https://www.fcps.net/school-resources/registration-enrollment/non-resident-student-applications

Could have saved everyone a whole lot of time and trouble by just asking CAL to moved up. They would have.

The multiplier idea would work way more equitably if they apply a multiplier it to the actual number of students that are attending a school from outside of their district.

We would like for the board to consider leaving Grayson County High School in class 5A district 4 like we are now. Or district 3 if that helps keep better balance between district numbers. We are in the central time zone but we neighbor Hardin County where the Eastern time zone starts. We appeal every golf realignment for the same reason. With us being on the Western Kentucky Parkway it is much better for our student athletes to travel by bus on the WK Parkway to I-65 to district 3 or 4 opponents compared to taking Highway 185 / 187 to Warren County.

District travel:

Based off of Google Maps Barren County High school is 60 miles from GCHS but takes 1 hr 10 mins to get there driving a car because having to take highways to get to the cumberland parkway. While Bullitt Central is the same distance and only takes 55 mins by car because it is all parkway and Interstate.

Another example according to Google maps Bowling Green High School is only 43 miles away from GCHS but Google maps says it takes 56 minutes to get to that destination. Where once again Bullitt Central is further in distance but has a shorter arrival time on Google Maps

Greenwood High School is 47.5 miles but the destination time is an hour. North Bullitt is 66.4 miles in distance but has the same arrival time as our trip to Greenwood but has much straighter roads.

Playoff travel based off of the FB2025 Draft maps show the 4 furthest trips could be

District 1 furthest trips

Graves County- 150 miles
Marshall County- 127 miles
Madisonville- 79
Owensboro- 61

I read this the other day and it was very strange to me.  Grayson County isn't in District 4 currently, they're in District 2, exactly where they're being slotted to in this one.  Now, I'm not saying they have no argument here, but that was just such a weird way to start.  It's very obviously a plea to get away from Bowling Green.

Male would object to any realignment in 6A football that has existed for many years now. The Metro Area AD Association (6/7/8 basketball regions) meets regularly and NO discussion has occurred among these member schools regarding any proposal to revise the geographic placement of teams for Football. Attempts filed to change the districts are self serving and not based on valid geographic reasons. Attempts to change the alignment due to competitive reasons is not the procedure which should be utilized to draw district boundaries.

This was my favorite one.  I feel like Male basically knew that others would make some off the wall requests (looking at you PRP and Bullitt East) and said "hey, don't listen to that noise."

KCD is basically saying the KHSAA and KHSAA Board of Control are ignorant and have no idea what they are doing.  Additionally, KCD suggests a "success factor multiplier" like Indiana instead of an anti-private school multiplier.

The first part of the bolded has been true for a long, long time.  Perhaps always.  I cannot WAIT for Tackett to go.

The second is much more akin to what I've hoped for, if they're going to go this route.

I'd like to see districts done away with. Shouldn't be forced to play a team because of geography. Have some huge mismatches because of districts. Could have 4 regions for playoff purposes but be free to schedule who you want for regular season.

The ultimate goal for like 90% of high schools is winning a district championship. What's good for perennial title contenders is not what's good for the rest of high school football.

This right here would solve a number of issues. As far as playing for a district title goes teams would basically form their own “leagues” or “conferences”. There are a number of states (Ohio being one) that do this.

1000%. The Board's explanation is "let's try this and get it 100% right for 2029." No reason to punish schools like Bethlehem or KCD where numbers fluctuate depending on Soccer numbers. This doesn't happen at schools like Raceland, Pikeville, or Campbellsville where football is the outlier.

For example, KCD dressed 21 kids in 2018 and was down to 16 players against powerhouse Beechwood in the 2nd round. KCD almost had to forfeit that matchup due to safety. That scenario could very well happen to KCD or Bethlehem.

KCD had the rare circumstance of having over 45 kids on the roster the past 4 years due to a senior class that consisted of 19 football players (17 who had been there since elementary and middle school). They'll be lucky to sniff 35 the next 2-4 years.

I know for me I have said on here that I believe if they were to do the multiplier, then it needs to be done to public schools as well who have out of district kids.

Now with all that said, I don't believe any of that should be done. The only thing that should be considered is the success factor idea, that they originally talked about back in January, before then for some reason switching to this multiplier for private schools. The success model makes sense as an approach, if they were going to try to change something.
