Not true! I would say this definitely hurts Bishop Brossart and St. Henry more than it does KCD. Brossart is now moving up to 2A and will be in Beechwood's district. St. Henry is a new program, and now will be bumped up to 3A.

I'd be exceedingly angry in Bishop Brossart's shoes knowing that this new scenario introduced increased 1A by exactly two schools - Sayre and Covington Holy Cross - both subject to the same multiplier rule, but they get to stay in 1A because of this altered proposal.  If I'm Bishop Brossart I'm asking "why not one more?"

I like RPI a round earlier but the elephant in the room with RPI is addressing out of state games and until that is addressed RPI is subpar at best.

What will happen to the districts when teams decide to drop out of district play?  For example, Thomas Nelson last cycle did not play in district play.  That would make their district have only 3 teams in it.  Do they move a team to make it 4 teams or just roll with 3 team district.

Schools have a time period to respond to the alignment. I wonder if districts (classes?) will be adjusted following the allotted response time?

This was posted by Football of Kentucky on Facebook but is it crediting Jason Frakes with the CJ:

The realignment will affect seven schools in Louisville, with Kentucky Country Day (2A), Shawnee (3A), Christian Academy (4A), Doss (5A) and Fairdale (6A) all moving up in class. Western (2A) and DuBois (A) both will move down in class.

Fairdale is the only school moving up to Class 6A, a result of Hopkinsville no longer being in the class because of its consolidation with Christian County.

Other noteworthy programs that will move classes include Elizabethtown (4A to 3A), Lexington Christian (2A to 3A), Lexington Catholic (3A to 4A), Covington Catholic (4A to 5A) and Franklin County (4A to 5A).

The multiplier affects 16 private schools currently playing football in Kentucky and multiplies their boys enrollments by 1.35 for purposes of alignment.

For example, Christian Academy’s average boys enrollment of 305.5 would place the football team in Class 3A. But the multiplier of 1.35 makes the enrollment 412.4 and places CAL in 4A.

CAL and Boyle County in 4A. Playground only big enough for one of these schools so one going to get kicked off.

With the exception of having Highlands in their district. You have to really like the district for teams like Holmes, Grant County, Harrison County, and Mason County. As the Highlands game will be what it is, but besides that those four teams truly can compete for that 2 seed, and build some positive momentum.

Wish they had put Lex Cath in the West. Going to end up with heavy hitters in the East while CAL and PT skip to the final four again.

East: Boyle, Corbin, Highlands, Johnson Central, Lex Cath, Ashland.

West: CAL, Paducah Tilghman, Madison North Hopkins, Logan Co, Taylor Co

One of Boyle, Lex Cath, and Corbin will be out by region, and one of Johnson Central, Ashland, and Highlands will be out by region.

my thoughts of districts for Class 1A.

These are similar to the first of the 6 Class setup back in 2007.

D1 Russellville, Crittenden Co, Ballard Memorial, Fulton Co

D2 WeB Dubois, Louisville Holy Cross, Fort Knox, Caverna

D3 Frankfort, Eminence, Ludlow, Trimble Co

D4 Newport, New Cath, Bellevue, Dayton

D5 Williamsburg, Lynn Camp, Berea, Paris

D6 Hazard, Middlesboro,Pineville, Harlan

D7 Pikeville, Betsy Layne, East Ridge, Phelps

D8 Raceland, Paintsville, Fairview, Nicholas Co

We had this discussion two months ago. Great call with as you were right about Ludlow being moved out and having to travel much further now for their district games.

Hard to believe the KHSAA would do that to Ludlow, very unfair.

There was some chatter at the last BOC meeting about possibly moving the RPI part of the bracket up to the second round. No clue if it happens but it does seem like they might be trying to remedy a heavy side/weak side bracket.

While the travel would suck, I would say Ludlow would overall is very happy with the district they will be in. After years of always being in the same district as Beechwood, and NCC. I would say these last few years, and now this next realignment has been great for Ludlow. As it has allowed Ludlow to win a couple of district championships, and really get excitement growing with the football program. Which that now should only continue to go up and build for Ludlow.

We don't agree on this one.  Technically Ludlow is within walking distance of several 1A schools, most long time rivals, but they won't be in a football district with them in favor of a bunch of "travel" games. With that said, it should be very easy to fill out their schedule.

I don't disagree with you on the travel, as I am surprised they moved Ludlow out. Which is why I brought up his post up because I got it wrong. I disagreed with him two months ago, and didn't think anyway that they they would make Ludlow travel when you had other 1A teams right by them. So while I am surprised they did that, I would say Ludlow overall would be very happy with that district, besides for the travel of course.

I will add its even more surprising that they moved Holy Cross out of their district too. As Holy Cross is currently in their district. So I am confused why they moved Holy Cross out too. As would make more sense for Bracken County to join the other NKY district, and Holy Cross stay. If anything it should be Ludlow, Holy Cross, Trimble, and Eminence.

In 5A, I think Wooford County should be in the district with Collins, Franklin County, Scott County, and Anderson County.  They are instead with East Jessamine, West Jessamine, Montgomery County, and Madison Southern.  Geographically is makes sense and is similar to the 8th Region alignment.
