What is this dead period thing you speak of?

Mandated Period set forth by the KHSAA where all Athletes must take that 2 Weeks off in late June early July without any communication from any of their School Coach or School official. We joke around at my House when my Son asks me for some Money during that period. "Um, I am not allowed to talk to you" Remember? Go ask your Mom....LOL!

Does HHS have any Sophs to be we should be aware of? Any standouts in Spring ball?

There were 5 or so freshman that dressed varsity last year.    I would expect Colt Kremer and Kaden Sturdevant to get time this year

In all seriousness, I wish dead period was 3 weeks long.

Agreed! And there are some teams that already do this on their own, and give players off an extra week or two before dead period even officially starts. Which I think is a great idea.

Yeah Highlands last day for practice is June 20th and ends that day around Noon. Then we don’t come back until July 10th from Dead Period.

It’s nice to have those extra 4-1/2 days to spend time away from the Grind. Gives Families an opportunity to leave that Friday afternoon on the 20th.

Yes with older Children working it really helps with those extra days off....

In addition to Sturdevant and Kremer, look for Jimmy Cox to work his way into the rotation at Linebacker and be a solid contributor on special teams.

Look for Dom Listerman to sneak in the rotation and be a special teams player as well.

So you’re saying up to 4 future sophomores could get playing time this year? Or just eventually get in? Seems a bit high for school like Highlands. I watched them play Moeller this year and all 4 of those names were called quite a bit.

Not saying all 4 will be starters. That won’t happen. But will they all be on special teams? Very likely, will all 4 get some meaningful snaps at their respected positions? I think it’s likely.

If these type players don’t get enough varsity time, Coaches have them play JV.  Imo, holding Rio out as a sophomore because he was the back up QB and just in case starting QB got hurt, did a disservice to Rio and the program. All those quality reps he could have gotten would have went a long way last year. Again just my opinion. Kids need to play and get reps!!!

Hopefully, someone post some highlights and info from tonight’s Spring Game. Picked up an extra shift at the shop!
