Had Sheppard converted that ball saving three pointer at the end of the first half,  I would have legally changed my name to Reed.

It wasn't just the freak play on the last play of the game.  LSU also bounced a free throw off of the top of the backboard, hit a prayer of a reverse layup, and had their big bury a three pointer as the shot clock ran out--all in the last few minutes of the game.  Now, UK shouldn't have blown the big lead, but when that much goes against you at the end of the game, it just isn't your night.

Awesome game overall. This is not a complaint, but I think Cal missed an opportunity in this game. The last 8-10 minutes the Cats fell into old habits. The same things that got them beat against LSU. Alabama shot 56% in the game. That is a problem.

I know it is tough to maintain focus and intensity when you are leading by 30. But Cal should have used the 8 minute timeout to say we are winning this game by 30. Stay focused. No old habits on defense. This is a game where you learn to put a team away and stay focused when you have a big lead.

Z did some good things. He is fun to watch on offense. He is pathetic on defense. He plays straight up, has slow feet and has no physicality. He is weak and slow. He is terrible defending the pick and roll. If this was a close game, he would have played 2 or 3 minutes.

He still had 4 blocks.  He doesn't have to be great on defense for him to be serviceable. His foot work and strength could really improve with another year at UK but I'm not sure that's in the cards for him.

Jack Givens was talking about this today during the game. He said you want to keep the clock going by not fouling but still keep your foot on the gas offensively. UK had such a big lead they could afford to give up easy 2s but I’d rather them keep pushing it.

Everything went the Cats way today, could have beaten the Celtics!! Gave up 95 points again defensively but that’s just what they do. So Auburn missed over 15 uncontested shots and Ky got the win, Cats blow a 15 pt lead vs LSU and got beat, until the defense gets better and they take better care of leads, I’m not getting excited about their chances in tourney play, today’s game will never happen again, actually yesterday’s game.

95 points isn’t ideal, but there were a ton a quick possessions yesterday too, giving the opponent more possessions. They’ll always score more in that scenario.

With that said, you can’t give up 50+% shooting and win consistently.

Several times Reed Sheppard poked the ball away, but someone else on our team caught the ball. Does Reed get credit for a Steal? Or if not, is there a category for "possession break up," similar to football's "Pass Break Up"?
