Of course Beechwood is the only NKY team to come to War Memorial. The reason? First, NKY was always on the eastern side which means we could only meet in the Finals. Secondly, when NKY was classified in the western side, nobody from NKY could ever beat the Tigers. So, they are the team that has always made the trip. Just my two pennies.

They need to go back to East vs East and West vs West. I heard you can almost get to Chicago quicker from Ft Mitchell than Ft Mitchell to Mayfield or vise versa.

You have to think that long bus ride gives Mayfield a distinct advantage. Same with Cov Cath vs PT. They should have a distinct advantage, as well.

I’m good with a long bus ride having a disadvantage but  but not that far.

The old saying, of course, is defense wins championships. I just can't overlook the fact that the Beechies gave up over 40 to one middle of the pack team and over 50 to another average team, fortunate to win them both. Great teams don't do this. Yes defense has been lights out since then, but they haven't played anyone either.

The 2 teams that scored 40+ on Beechwood were both ranked in the top 10 in their class during the season

NewCath has  only played Mayfield in the finals. We like to forget 85 and 86 happened but 2005 was pretty fun. It is crazy to see how many times Beechwood and Mayfield have played in the semis post 2000, and no other NKY team has. I remember coming out of school in 1995 and my dad picked us up from school (we walked 99.9% of the time) and I asked right away who won and he said Mayfield. That’s how long ago this goes. I was 13 and I was wanting to know who won Class A in 1995. Good luck to both teams . Safe travels and happy Thanksgiving.

You can.. when I played we always said you can get to some parts of Canada before getting to mayfield. Which I remember looking it up and it was true..

The Old Grave yard, "War Memorial Stadium" has not had any NKY internments other than some large red furred felines from time to time. I couldn't find their plots on Find A Grave but if anyone goes to look for their plots their next to a freshly dug plot where some old Eagles were recently buried.

Which just proves they were overrated. Rankings are fun and all, but they are just someone's opinion and they've never won any team a playoff game. In a state where everyone makes the playoff, one of those Beechwood opponents made a first round playoff appearance, the other second round. ?‍♂️
