I see mayfield controlling the clock in this one with the running game. Also give physicality to the Cards. I'll take Mayfield in a close game.

I like Mayfield in this one but I won’t say anything negative about Beechwood. They do it the right way. Thank you for the help during the tornado.

Please, please tell me that the game will be live streamed.  I have a lot of family coming in for Thanksgiving and we can’t make it down.  We have a fire pit, an outside TV, and future turkey noodle soup just waiting.

That being said, I am super nervous about the matchup.

(Cardinal red, that is ?)

Should be one hell of a football game, which is supposed to be at this point. I seriously don’t know who to pick. Both teams are obviously great and familiar with each other. Being at War Memorial is a potential difference maker and Mayfield beat LCA very impressively last night. Beechwood hasn’t been anything short of impressive all season and has been very strong overall since beginning play in 2A. My main concern for Beechwood is the schedule that they have played since district play began in the regular season up to last night, which is obviously beyond their control. This takes nothing away from what Beechwood has done, but when your first challenging game in a while is against Mayfield and there, won’t be easy in any way. But I believe they are clearly the 2A champion until proven otherwise. Good luck to both teams in what should be another great football game.

I’ll take the Cards by 48-31. Just too fast and athletic.

This matchup ensures that at least one of these teams will appear in the state championship game for the 17th straight year!

Mayfield wins by 2-3 TDs.

I don't think there is a team that can go to Mayfield and win. It also seems like they are the only school in KY that still has a grass field.

Mayfield 35- Beechwood 28

You’re wrong on that. Just look up the scores when they played.

Come on mayfield faithful don't let BW bring up recent success as any type of measuring stick. Mayfield use to own Beechwood and beat them  anywhere starting in 2002 state championship game. Then in the playoffs at Mayfield and at Beechwood. Many Mayfield fans thought Beechwood moved down in class because they just couldn't beat Mayfield in the playoffs. Then in 2020 the year Murray beat Mayfield in the playoffs and Beechwood beat a great LCA team in state game. Beechwood really wanted to play Mayfield because they knew they had the better team and would of killed Mayfield. Then in 2021 that same Beechwood team basically reclassed due to covid and FINALLY beat Mayfield at home something like 35-6. Then of course a 1 point win in state game last year because of a missed extra point, overtime would of been interesting. Mayfield has had the better of Beechwood throughout history. Beechwood has won state championship three times straight and that is awesome and they are the favorites IMO until beaten. It should be a GREAT game but Mayfield does leads in the series and is playing at home.

Athletes and SPEED..

This game will include a couple of track stars. Last years KY State track meet Beechwood WR/CB #2 Luke Erdman placed 2nd in the 100m dash with a time of 11.22. Mayfield Rb #24 Juju Starks was right behind him placing 3rd with 11.26!

I think everyone in the thread has this game wrong. Everyone’s prediction is WAY too low in my opinion. Beechwood can score in 1 play whenever they want. You simply can not guard all of those weapons. After watching Mayfield (for the first time yesterday on video) wow.. they can score quick too. But I saw a lot of throws missed by Mayfield QB that (the best QB in Ky) Clay Hayden would complete. The dude is legit. This should be the championship again. It scares me that beechwood hasn’t played a decent team in months, but I’m obviously going with Beechwood!

Beechwood- 55

Mayfield- 46 (a few missed PAT are likely)

I was wrong on the times, Luke ran 11.12 and Juju ran 11.19.

Well the entire season has been leading to this matchup. Beechwood defense will need to prove they have prepared themselves enough to make some stops against Cartwright, Starks, and company. If they can I can see a path for a Beechwood victory. The other big key to this game is the ability for the Beechwood line to keep Clay clean in the pocket. LCA was not able to keep the D Line of Mayfield off of Cutter and it lead to sacks and turnovers. As always I am picking my Tigers but Mayfield is a great team and this game is going to test Beechwood in every facet of the game.

Beechwood has never moved down in class. They were 1A forever until they moved up to 2A in 2019. Mayfield has bounced up and down a couple of times but I’m not sure exactly which years.

I stand to be corrected if you're right...I do know when they were in same class talk was Beechwood appeared to move in class due to enability to beat Mayfield. I do think make leads in the series and Curious on what the series count is? And I do believe Mayfield has won at Beechwood once or twice and Beechwood has never won at Mayfield. Everything else seems to be correct?

Beechwood never moved, Mayfield did in 2015. In 2015 , Mayfield moved from 1A to 2A and won their last State Title. Beechwood stayed in 1A and won several more Titles. Then Beechwood grew in size and moved up around 2019 to 2A. They have never ducked anybody in my opinion.
