The KHSAA scoreboard goes back to 1998. If you go year by year, Beechwood is 8-4 against Ohio teams during that time span. Most of those games were played when Beechwood was still in 1A. I would guess the majority were against schools with larger enrollments (in several of the games much larger enrollments). Prior to 1998 you have the Beechwood win over CAPE in '84 which is mentioned in this thread, and I know they beat Wyoming and Purcell Marian in the '90s. I believe both of those games were in '97 but I could be mistaken. That would make the Tigers 11-4 against Ohio teams. I'm sure they've played more games against Ohio schools but those are just the ones off the top of my head.

Beechwood’s freshman played against PM’s JV…not their varsity. Then they did an inter squad freshman/ sophomore scrimmage. And it was only sophomores who won’t be varsity contributors this season.

Beechwood kicked two FG’s for sure.

It’s flag football without flags and a pass rush…I wouldn’t read into it much more than that. 7 on 7 is great for getting the QB’s and receivers in rhythm. Sure, there are some coverage issues you can correct but it’s still nothing like a real football game. All of the teams involved seemed to be getting lots of younger players experience too which is great.

Beechwood will scrimmage Ryle (8/9) and Purcell Marian, OH (8/16) this year. I believe both are at Beechwood.

I'm not sure if any of those guys are coming back or not. The incoming sophomore class has great numbers so that will help tremendously. I do believe a handful of kids are playing who haven't played since middle school/freshman. That will help with JV numbers as well.

Beechwood will have a 6/7th grade team, 8th grade team and a Freshman team as well as JV. The problem last year was that somewhere around 14 kids decided not to play. Either concentrating on other sports or just not playing football any longer. Some of that might have had to do with the uncertainty of the coaching change after Rash retired. These would have all been sophomores and juniors last year. There would have been no problem playing a JV schedule if they hadn't lost that many players. Many of them decided not to play after the schedule had already been released so that's why they ended up in a bit of a bind about what to do at the JV level. I don't think there will be any problem going forward as the numbers are good at all levels.

Starks is also a 5th year senior. I have no problem with it as it was obviously an option for kids still in the correct age group. I guess because of Cam Hergott being Mr. Football, Beechwood has been under extreme scrutiny for it…especially in NKY. I’m pretty sure LCA and Mayfield had as many kids reclassify as Beechwood. It has nothing to do with the game Friday as both teams have some reclass guys still playing. But I do get tired of people acting like Beechwood is the only school in the state that had guys reclassify.

Beechwood is 2-8 against Mayfield. There are 9 games on that list and the other is the ‘95 state championship game. Beechwood has never won at Mayfield. They were 0-8 all time until winning the last 2. Tigers will have to play their absolute best game of the year to win on Friday.

Beechwood has never moved down in class. They were 1A forever until they moved up to 2A in 2019. Mayfield has bounced up and down a couple of times but I’m not sure exactly which years.

There is only 1 reclass kid on the current Beechwood freshman team. The current sophomore class has always been small and several of them decided not to play football this year to concentrate on other sports (mainly baseball). That's why the sophomore class is so small this season.

I believe this will be the last JV game this season.

That is correct. Beechwood only dresses 9th graders for JV because of this rule. Most schools have sophomores and juniors playing JV.

There is no JV game scheduled. Beechwood had Walton on the JV schedule this week but I've heard that game has been cancelled.

53 yards of that 87 came on one run late in the 4th quarter against all backups.

The 8th grader wasn’t starting over the freshman but was getting a couple of series per game. He has a nice arm but not as strong as the freshman at this point. The 8th grader is a really good runner and gave Beechwood a different look when he was in there. He’s going to be really good as a freshman next year.

Again just adding to the rumors by saying "the vaunted beechwood freshman have several repeats as well." Nope, they have 1 playing.

With this being such a touchy subject, I don't want to point out a specific kid. I will say he is not a skill position player.
