Beechwood 30 Covington Catholic 18 (Frosh)

Recommended Posts

Final.

  • Beechwood (6-0) completes the trifecta this season with wins over the Colonels (4-3) on the Varsity, JV, and Freshman levels.
  • The Tigers were led by freshman RB/WR Luke Erdman, who scored THREE touchdowns - 2 rushing and a 34-yard TD catch from QB Clay Hayden.
  • RB/LB Chase Flaherty also scored on a 2-yard run late in the 2nd quarter.

  • theguru changed the title to Beechwood 30 Covington Catholic 18 (Frosh)

CovCath football fans have to be really nervous about the turn of events this season on the pitch in terms of Beechwood.  Pipeline doesn't seem to be chock-full for Eddie and his staff.

Will be interesting to keep an eye on, but feels like these could be two programs going in opposite directions (in terms of head-to-head results) for the next few years.

I agree and it appears the gap between the two football programs is closing.

Meh. Maybe. But we all know about he elephant in the room with Beechwood. I think it will be a situation for some time, as they have reclassification kids all the way down through grade school. Saw their 7th grade team play highlands over the weekend and they fed the ball to their reclassified running back all game long. He was the tallest kid on the field. It is what it is, but there will always be an asterisk in a lot of people’s minds.

highlands won.

I’m not concerned yet. I didn’t expect to beat BW with Hergott back this year and I expect CCH to be pretty good the next two.

It seems like the freshman have a bunch of guys out, including the QB and I saw enough in the Elder game (the only available on the CCH season pass) to know there are some future high end contributors in this class. I don’t get too worried about freshman results. You really only need a handful of contributors each class to have a very good team year in and year out.

The 8th grade team is probably the third best team in the Cincy Catholic league from what I gather, so I’m expecting that class to be better and to have some pretty good players.
