Meh. Maybe. But we all know about he elephant in the room with Beechwood. I think it will be a situation for some time, as they have reclassification kids all the way down through grade school. Saw their 7th grade team play highlands over the weekend and they fed the ball to their reclassified running back all game long. He was the tallest kid on the field. It is what it is, but there will always be an asterisk in a lot of people’s minds.

highlands won.

Question. When the "reclassified" 7th grade running back reaches 9th grade in a couple of years he might have a shot at making Beechwood's varsity team and perhaps he may get some minutes. So if he excels against 10th, 11th and 12th graders will it be because he is a reclassified student-athlete or will it be because he is just a better athlete? There are teams all over the Commonwealth with reclassified players this year but all I seem to read and hear is Beechwood this and Beechwood that. And I also do not have a dog in the fight.

That’s a big what if. It’s probably because beechwood has over 18 varsity players who reclassified, and many more between elementary and freshman. They’re the poster child. I have not heard of anyone else with that many. Certainly not by a team up north. They will continue to be criticized for it. It’s not going away.

It isn’t even remotely close to “over 18 varsity players”. The number seems to grow each week. At this rate,  it’ll be upwards of 40 kids reclassifying by seasons end.

If we are interested in facts, the actual number is 16 kids, K-12.

I look forward to talking about this again on the next thread pertaining to Beechwood Football.

Still a ridiculous number. Good luck to all of them. I hope they get what they want out of it. And are prepared for the “he’s a fifth year” chants. Lol. Classic.

Great, I hope Highlands is prepared to actually win a game tonight against Boone County.

Why don’t we just make it easy and let everyone know who they are since there’s so much speculation. Own it.

Would have been much easier with college kids. I’m thrilled they and covcath didn’t allow it. Adults with some sense prevailed.

The Birds haven’t done a whole lot of winning the last several years, so I guess they need a lot of college kids, but you have that Elephant tusk, so that should even the playing field.

The birds will be fine, the wins are coming. They’ll be legitimate, and even sweeter. Wouldn’t want to be a part of what the tigers are doing or how they’re doing it. Our boys will know they did it right.
