That is a great point to bring up. Beechwood in 2A is a perfect example as a team with 6 teams in their district and the last several years 2 or 3 of them have extremely low RPI's that brought Beechwood's RPI down significantly. In 2023 it brought Beechwood's RPI down to the point where Beechwood had to travel to Mayfield for the semifinals. Having 2 more mandatory home games kept the Tigers from scheduling better competition to at least have a shot at improving their RPI. I have read (somewhere on the KHSAA website) that Beechwood requested that only 3 of their 5 district games count towards RPI calculations. My personal suggestion would be to allow a team that wins their 6 team district and has a certain RPI margin to the 6th (and maybe also the 5th) place team to have the option to not schedule those teams the following year.

I think Somerset and Bracken are bracketed to meet in the 2nd round should they both win.

I am pretty sure this isn't the first time Beechwood has played at Owen County, but it was a LONG time ago. On Facebook I saw a page Owen County HS Friends of Football page with a couple of posts that have a link to a broadcast in the comments, so it looks like the home team will have a broadcast.

The 2 things that have kept the Tigers from scoring in bunches this year are sacks and time of possession. If West Carter has success with these two (or turnovers) they will keep it close, but that is a big if. My guess is Tigers 42-14.

From looking at the Bobcat's schedule, I'm guessing they haven't seen a team that can throw it all over the place like the Tigers can. I'm guessing a running clock, but when (3rd or 4th quarter) will depend on whether or not Breathitt County can move the ball and eat up some clock in the first half and play some keep away from Hergott and the Tiger offense.
