The shortcomings of KHSAA RPI on full display. Betsy Layne's strength of schedule is second worst in 2A and one of the worst in thr entire state. But they are 4-0 so they are #3 in KHSAA RPI. I don't know if they deserve to even be in the top 15 in 2A.

Ditto Prestonsburg at #8.

Why is the Opponents/Opponents WP in this equation? What's that got to do with this? So Stupid.

Theoretically incentivizes you to play a tough schedule, which is reinforced by the team you play also playing a tough schedule.

In Beechwood’s case, regardless how tough of a schedule they play out of the gate for the first five non-conference games they still get screwed unlike any other in 2A because of the total number of teams in their own district. Yes, we’ve heard this will change in 2025, but will it really change?

Also, kudos to LCA this season, pound for pound, they’ve played the toughest schedule out of the gate and love that they beat CAL last week.

Also, do you think Barren County is, who is #2 in 6-A RPI is better then Trinity #7. Heck no, and their schedule isn't tougher. It's a flawed formula. PERIOD.

Is Boyle Co really 4th in 4-A RPI?

Football is KY is watered down. Needs to be 4 classes again. 5 maybe but 6 is too much.

not really. You can play cupcakes who play a tough schedule.

Note the theoretically in my original post. It should work that way, but it really doesn't.

  • Barren is absolutely not the second best team in 6A. You say it is a flawed formula - I've literally said the exact same thing in multiple threads this week. We agree!
  • Boyle is absolutely not the fourth best team in 4A. They should be rewarded for their win against St. Edward but the RPI reality is its no different than had they beat Jellico (TN).
  • Not sure the third point is relevant to this discussion but it would be interesting to see what a 4-class RPI might look like.

Negative Ghost Rider. We were told that there wouldn't be any 6 team districts, and then they made that a 6 team district again. Only change in that district is losing Carroll to 3A and picking up St Henry. District 5, in alphabetical order, will be Beechwood, Bracken, Gallatin, Owen, St. Henry, and Walton-Verona.

Looked at the final 2025 realignment yesterday.  You are correct BW will still have 6.  The only change is Mayfield will also have 6.  Don’t know how this will balance things out.  Guess KHSAA subscribes to 2 wrongs make a right.
