If North Hardin has to surrender some wins.  OC might not get the push they need to stay number 1. Things just keep getting more

Could Mayfield move to #1 if they beat Murray? Murray has a much higher RPI then Fort Campbell

One thing the state needs to look at with RPI is the number of district games. Teams are getting penalized for having to play 4 (LCA) and 5 (Beechwood) district games, while majority of the state is o

One other comment I will add to the above post. I have seen Mayfield fans worried about only playing 9 games. That is not as big a concern as they might believe it to be. KHSAA RPI is not cumulative.

I don't put a lot of stock in the first RPi standings. There will certainly be movement. I don't pretend to know the way it all works (opponents opponents win %), but remaining on the top 4's schedule

I honestly don’t think so because Fort Campbell has a decent record but who knows.

That's interesting. I don't know if anyone knows how to figure out the RPI. It just seems like a lot hangs in the balance with this North Hardin decision. If they forfeit these games it will definetly affect the RPI for OC. Again though Mayfield plays Christian Co. so like you said "who knows?"

What’s the deal with North Hardin?

I noticed Fort Campbell was 5-3.  I don't see the needle moving much between Mayfield and OC if they both win.

Fort Campbell is #26 in 2A RPI.  They will finish 5-5 and host a playoff game as #2 in District 2.

OCath's district opponents will finish around 9-20.

Mayfield's district opponents will finish 14-16.

I believe the gap will close, just not sure if it will be enough to over take the #1 spot for the Cardinals.

To be honest if Green County beats Taylor County last game of the season and somehow jumps LCA in RPI, and assuming Green County also makes it to the third round of the playoffs then being the number one ranked team will be a burden considering the #1 ranked team would then host LCA in the third round. RPI is a crazy beast.

I’m not entirely sure. It’s going to be close.

Crazy to think that a team is better off in RPI calculations not playing a 10th game than playing and beating any out-of-state team (even the #1 team in the country). This problem is experienced by many of the top border teams that have Ky teams reluctant to schedule them.  This needs addressing if hosting any playoff games in the future are to be RPI based.

1st Round 2A Pairings go on district record, not RPI, correct?

Yes.  RPI doesn't kick in until round 3.

Still looks like a pretty sizable gap with 1 week left. Any chance 1-4 changes?

Kinda looking like everything is set in stone at this point but I guess you never know.

It will be very difficult to predict possibilities because what the opponents and the opponents opponents do next Friday are going to have impact.

O Cath should gain good points if they beat 6A North Hardin, so the only hope anyone has of catching them is if they lose.

Same thing with Mayfield gaining points because they are also playing a 6A school, Christian County. Despite the bad record, beating a 6A school produces really good points in KHSAA RPI. I don't see anyone catching Mayfield or O Cath.

Beechwood could get passed by LCA but it is close enough that the opponents results will likely be the difference. Beechwood has their open week. I am not sure how Raceland will impact LCA. That game may get thrown out of LCA's ranking because of Raceland being a 1A school and the new rule that allows a team to drop 2 game factors versus a lower class school. Under KHSAA RPI, it actually could hurt playing a lower class school because the game factor is lower for schools in lower classes.

If Green County is able to upset 4A Taylor County, that may be enough to jump them up over LCA. This is the game we need to try and figure out the impact of as I think it could have the most impact on changing the RPI rankings.
