I understand and I would feel the same way if I was a Mayfield fan.

Mayfield really needs to jump LCA in RPI somehow to get that 3rd round matchup at home to have a chance to win that game so that we can see the Mayfield-Beechwood matchup. Every playoff season is better when you get to see Mayfield and Beechwood square off.

I prefer to let everyone fight it out and then Beechwood will be waiting there in the finals to play the survivor.

I’m a neutral fan but does anyone think OC has a chance. Just seems like people are excluding them and sleeping on them.

Other than the Oboro game they have dominated and the very little bit I watched them I like what I saw so I would say yes, they definitely have a chance.  Also, here are the TP94 Power Ratings from last week and they say yes too:

Before the season I thought 2A should be ranked as follows:

LCA

Mayfield

Beechwood

OCath

Nothing that has happened this season would change those rankings for me but my mind has been changed about a couple things. LCA is a little further ahead of the rest of the pack than I originally thought and OCath is MUCH closer to the top 3 than I originally thought.

I can't argue against any of those observations. 

I think the next two weeks Mayfield moves up. Crittenden and Murray are top 8 in the RPI.

1st and 2nd rounds are just like in years past where District 5 Seeds 1 and 3 seeds will match up against District 6 seeds 2 and 4 with the winners facing each other in the second round. District 6 seeds 1 and 3 will match up against District 5 seeds 2 and 4 with the winners of those games matching up in the second. Once those games are completed that’s when the RPI kicks in but the 3rd round is East RPI #1 vs East RPI #4 and East RPI #2 vs East RPI #3 then the winners of those matchups get mixed in with the West remaining 2 teams and the RPI once again is 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 and winners meet in the championship. 
 

So in the scenario you had on your post it would be Beechwood vs Danville and Leslie County vs Bracken on one side with the winners facing each other and Somerset vs Owen County and Carroll County vs Breathitt County with those winners playing. Hope that helps.

The idea of Danville-Beechwood meeting up in a first round game is just mind blowing to me since like 20 years ago those teams were playing in the state finals.  Have the Ads ever made a trip to Fort Mitchell?!?!

It’s crazy how far the Ads have fallen! I remember after we beat Murray in the 1994 Class A state finals we watched a little of the Ads vs Bullitt East. It was men among boys in that game! 

As in the Ads ever coming to Ft Mitchell I have no clue but that is a good question. I’m sure someone who has been following Beechwood for a long time would know this answer.

I was at both of those State Championships  and the first of course was miserabe as Beechwood got rolled but the weather was awful too. Coldest State title game I have ever been to. The next year was nice to get the revenge and beat Danville.

So was I!  And yes, the weather was awful in 2003.  Last state title for Sam Harp as well and the last one Danville would win for the next 14 years.  Of course, the Ads strong run wouldn't quite die until that awful game in 2006 vs. NCC where they squandered a big lead with 8 minutes to play.  I think of that every time I drive past Admiral Stadium and look at the list of state title years.
