2023 NKY Frosh Football Scores & Rankings

Did you watch Fryman much at all? In particular, the CovCath game? Without question, he was the top freshman player I saw last year.

CovCaths team last year was much deeper/bigger/more experienced and Fryman’s receiving TD and kick return TD had the score tied at the half. Colonels pulled away in second half when they blanketed Fryman with 3 defenders.

There were definitely a few other standouts, but, I’m with @Voice of Reason, his dominance was second to none.

I actually seen him quite a bit, with at least 3 of them being in person including the CovCath game. How many other players in NKY did you watch? As I said I definitely say he was a top 10 and probably even top 5 player last year in NKY freshman football. So it’s not like I’m saying anything bad, I just don’t think he was the top player in freshman football last year. Him doing it as an 8th grader makes it even more impressive. Which is why I have said he definitely would be the top freshman player in NKY this year if he played freshman. Which he most likely won’t be even playing freshman, because he is that good and probably will be playing varsity.

No the Colonels do not know that at all.  Better teams win, period.  Yes, it is that simple, cut, and dry.  Good teams don’t lose and don’t make excuses for losing.  When you lose, you lose because yo

Will play (and contribute) on varsity this year... but I wouldn't get used to it long term... kid will have an MLB draft grade on him at some point... not sure playing football lines up with that.

Agreed his future is baseball in regards to college and or draft for baseball. With that said I hope he doesn’t give up football, because he doesn’t need to give it up if he enjoys it and wants to keep playing. All these players that make it to high levels in any sport, all seemed to be top multi sport athletes and usually played at least two sports throughout high school. Very big misconception that players need to focus and commit to just one sport in high school to get to where they need to go. Yes there is always a risk for injury, but there is always a risk for injury in no matter what someone doesn’t in life.

Agree. I believe one sport focus is bad for every athlete, byt if anyone should think about going down to one sport it is the less talented athlete who needs to focus every bit of energy on getting playing time.

Ryle 2-1 over Beechwood in scrimmage.

Very tight game. Should be a good one later in the season.

I didn't get a real good look but I thought Ryle had a bunch of good looking athletes with some size on the Frosh team.

CORRECTION: 2-2

Tigers scored on a INT return and a TD pass early.

Two solid teams. Agree the in-season game will be a great one to watch.

There was a penalty on the play. That’s why they brought it back.

You’re right!!! Missed that one. I stand corrected!

SK Freshman Tysin Weaver played some WR lastnight on the varsity team.

Highlands frosh were impressive.  Good size and play hard.

Offense has so many weapons and can score in different ways. Lorenzen, Harris , Williams are a crew. On the D line you have the Benke twins on the edge and Haretuku in the middle allowing Lorenzen and Roderick to roam free at LB. This will be a real good Frosh team with many guys that play early at the varsity level.

Haven't heard too much on this year's freshman team aside from folks morning the loss of the Queen kid to Elder. I know they do have a pretty solid DE/OT/TE coming in. Jonny Lind. Another nice OL/DL named Colin Vinson. There's a WR named Cogswell. Curious if he's the son of Chad or Kevin.

He’s the son of Kevin and he also has a current 8th grade son. Both are fantastic athletes from St. Pius.

From @UKato91 in the Cov Cath/North Laurel scrimmage thread:

"I did stick around to watch the JV and Freshman games. Wow!! is all I have to say. The JV team looked really good and the Freshman team is unbelievable. That Freshman team is huge and will surprise a lot of people this year. I will be following them for sure."

I'm going to have to try to make a Frosh game soon.  I heard that Pitzer's younger brother Owen is an absolute Beast and is crazy huge!  Should be fun to watch him develop.

I will say his previous was impressive, especially as an 8th grader. But the best player in all freshmen last season not a chance. Ryle had at least 3 or 4 players that he would be behind, Cooper had at least 2 he would be behind. Those were your to two teams last year.
