First blush: five very good games, one potentially solid game, two games that should be over early. Of course I'll probably be wrong on all of them!

Agreed.

  • Having observed what happened last year, here's my primary issue with what they've done when they swapped back: they changed the times of the semis and the finals on Saturday. Prior to their move

Presuming they do not get upset in the Regional Tournament, Warren Central looks to have gotten a pretty nice path to the championship.  The bottom half of the bracket is loaded.

And a possible 7th vs. 11th quarterfinal looks interesting as well.  Have to be excited if you're a Warren Central fan.  Real nice draw.

I haven't seen WOFO live either.  It's just surprising to see the 6th region undersold so much.  I mean Western, PRP, Desales to name a few all spent time in the top 25 this season...

Do you think it's because Jeffersontown is seemingly the one team in the Sixth Region that hasn't gotten much publicity/ranking this season?

Agreed. I do think you’ll be more right than wrong though.  Don’t undersell yourself.  Lol.

That would be my guess.

And, they lost their best returning player to Trinity before the season...So, I'm sure that aided to them flying under the radar...

Woodford may have played better since district tournament but none those teams compare to Jtown.

North Oldham was ranked in the top 5 most of the year, and is much better than J-town (or anyone else, possibly excepting Evangel, in the 6th in my opinion).  I didn’t see Western, so have to allow for that.

Brings up a larger topic - the relative strengths of the Regions.  I grew up in the 5th, and have lived in metro Louisville for 25+ years, so I’m reasonably familiar with the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.  I guess overtime I’ve conditioned myself to think the 6th and 7th, and I’ll presume the 11th, are just head and shoulders above the other 13.  But as I’ve focused on it lately, I’m not sure that’s true. The 6th and 7th will typically be top heavy, and have one or two teams that other regions just can’t hope to compete with most nights.  First, that’s not always true, for example North Oldham this year or CCH most years can compete with those teams.  Once you get past Male/Ballard or Evangel/PRP (or whomever in a given year), there’s not a lot of difference between the next 6 or 8 teams in the 6th or 7th vs the 8th (my frame of reference).  And the teams at the bottom are just as bad if not worse.  There are some bad teams in the 8th - but I think Valley is worse than any of them.

Anyway, would require a little bit of research to confirm or refute all of that. ……

I am just the messenger @Brown.

Being an Ashland guy I really thought the cats were a year away from returning to Rupp but after the loss to Boyd Co in the district final they went to Morehead lasered focused and won all 3 games by double digits. I think their game with Owensboro should be a good game and depending on Ashland's shooting touch if it’s on it could be a win for them but if they go cold their defense will keep it close but they won’t be able to get the W in my opinion.

That larger topic will make for a good off season discussion.

I have some very strong opinions on this topic and what is happening in HS sports.

Best of Luck to all the teams that make it to Rupp

A interesting little fact they were 5 schools in which both the girls and boys made the state tournament.

Frederick Douglass

North Laurel

GRC

Ashland

McCracken Co.

Even after winning the regional tournament, RPI has J’town ranked ninth in the 6th.  Just one spot behind powerhouse Beth Haven.

Just bumping the bracket to the top for times.  Is there a way to pin the bracket somewhere for these 4 days?
