  • Having observed what happened last year, here's my primary issue with what they've done when they swapped back: they changed the times of the semis and the finals on Saturday. Prior to their move

Presuming they do not get upset in the Regional Tournament, Warren Central looks to have gotten a pretty nice path to the championship.  The bottom half of the bracket is loaded.

And a possible 7th vs. 11th quarterfinal looks interesting as well.  Have to be excited if you're a Warren Central fan.  Real nice draw.

Brutal draw for 12th Region...

It's reminiscent of GRC's draw last year in that regard.  I'd say it would have been hard for the Region 4 rep to have had it much better.  Outside of the 4th, there are only five teams in our current top 20 that are on the top half of the bracket, and they're all in Region 6 and Region 8, so only one of that group (North Oldham, Collins, Evangel Christian, PRP, Western) could potentially advance to the semis to play against the Region 4 rep if it reached that far.  Using the Massey Ratings, their first opponent, Region 12, doesn't have a single rep in the top 30, with Pulaski County coming in at #31 and Lincoln County at #33.  Potential QF opponents would be Owensboro Catholic (#34), Ohio County (#36), Boyd County (#44), Ashland (#45), etc.  Hard to do much better.  They even got the spot in the top half of the bracket, guaranteeing an extra day between the first round and QF, along with the early SF slot.

I certainly don't want to put the cart before the horse, but I'm pleased.

6th vs 8th will be very interesting.

I'd be rather surprised if the winner of that matchup is not in the semifinals.  And if the Region 4 rep were to falter, I'd likewise be surprised if they weren't in the finals.  Region 1 has some solid teams, but they haven't put a team even as far as the semifinals since 2006.  And Region 5 is even more of a dark horse than that.

Larue Co. did beat GRC earlier this year in the KOB, but I agree would def. be a darkhorse situation.

I know one of those.

Why does the KHSAA play the finals on the same night as semis?

Seems odd that you’d want to do that.

What is the justification for it?

Didn’t they do Sunday finals a few years ago?

Potentially Meyer’s or Isparo vs Travis Perry. That would be a pretty good crowd.

Amazing how the stars line up.
