War in Ukraine

According to multiple news reports the Ukrainians have destroyed a Russian landing ship and damaged two others. I wonder what weapons systems were used against the ships.

I just listened to a report claiming the Ukrainians used one of their tactical ballistic missiles to take out the ship.  One report claimed it could have been a OTR-21 Tochka (SS-21 “Scarab”).

Here is what the Missile Threat CSIS Missile Defense Project says about this weapon:

The Scarab B has improved on its predecessors range to 120 km, and has included an anti-radar blast warhead. It has also been given better maneuverability while in flight to help avoid ballistic missile defenses. It uses an inertial guidance combined with a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system and a radar or optical (TV) terminal correlation system giving is an accuracy of 95 m CEP. The missile has the same physical dimensions as the Scarab A, with a slightly heavier launch weight of 2,010 kg.5

It is believed that in 1999 the Russians used 60 to 100 SRBM in Chechnya, the majority of these being Tochka missiles. The Ukraine is reported as possessing 500 missiles, and around 80 have possibly been exported to Yemen and another 40 (along with 12 TEL vehicles) to Syria. Recently Armenia has paraded several Tochkas in September of 2011.

This weapon system is definitely an upgrade from Stingers and Javelins...

Very scary times.  I have been reading quite a bit about this, and won’t pretend to be an expert, but I still cannot believe that Russia is so brazen and is getting away with this.  Prayers to the peo

Counter attacking Ukrainian military units are close to cutting off and surrounding a large number of Russian troops. This could possibly force one of the largest Russian surrenders in history.

The landing ship that was destroyed was a tank carrier...I'm trying to track it down but this may be the one of the biggest ships that Russia has ever lost in combat.

Here is a picture of the Orsk from seanews.com.  Also, the last report I heard said three other Russian ships were damaged.

Some guys can't handle a stalemate but that's where this is going for Russia. Scarier to wonder if they'll accept a loss.

Is there anything we could do off the coast of Alaska that would really make the Russians scared...It is opposite side of the country from Ukraine?  I say that with a laugh, but if they are fighting hard with Ukraine, maybe we make a power move and take Russia over!?

Gas 3.79 at Kroger today.

I've seen it as as low as in the $3.60's or as high as $3.99 in NKY

$3.62 this morning at the Independence Kroger.

From The Daily Wire/Sky News:

“A Russian brigade commander has been killed deliberately by his own troops after his unit suffered many losses in Ukraine,” Sky News reporter Deborah Haynes reported. “Colonel Medvechek, commander of 37 Motor Rifle Brigade, was run over by his soldiers.”

From my understanding, the price of oil is below pre-war levels, but gas stations don't adjust their prices because they don't have to.

I listened to "one" report on this.  In short, the gas station owner said he nearly went out of business and lost everything during COVID due to low prices and lack of sales.  With that in mind I totally understand this modus operandi.
