War in Ukraine

Featured Replies

A Russian SU-35S (Flanker) was shot down in Ukraine recently. Though not stealth this is considered to be a 5th gen fighter due to its advanced SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses) system and advanced radar and targeting pods. On paper, these systems are not only capable of jamming and spoofing US Radar, Drones and communications...they are reported to be able to track stealth aircraft from 350 miles. Russia has sold some of these planes to China and it is expected that the Chinese have reverse engineered all of these system to place them in their own aircraft.

The west has been very concerned about this tech as they have very little actual Intel about them, until now. The wreckage was recovered and the interesting parts turned over to the Brits who have now turned it over to the US. It has all been flown to Nevada, I assume Groom Lake or Area 51, for the big brains out there to figure it out.

Along with the capture of the Krasukha-4 Electronic Warfare System that Russian soldiers abandoned, this war has been a treasure trove of intelligence for NATO.

Very scary times.  I have been reading quite a bit about this, and won’t pretend to be an expert, but I still cannot believe that Russia is so brazen and is getting away with this.  Prayers to the peo

I am going with S-4 at Area 51 where Bob Lazar worked and no doubt we are learning things about our peers capabilities but not near as much as what they learned from everything we left behind in Afghanistan.

Hopefully we didn't leave behind next gen tech over there. But I'm sure we left stuff behind that has been useful to them.

Russia launched some cruise missiles this morning and hit the Ukrainian city of Lviv in western Ukraine, killing at least 7 and injuring another 11.  Lviv has mostly been a safe haven from the war but not anymore.  Looking at it from Russia's perspective I wonder what took so long to hit Lviv.

As many of us have mentioned, I don't see any end in sight to the War in Ukraine.

America is giving Ukraine "Phoenix Ghost Drones" now.  There is very little information out about these new drones and the best anyone has reported is they are similar to the Switchblade Drones we are already sending to Ukraine.  The only speculation I came across that may give us a hint was one General on CNN that speculated the Phoenix Ghost Drones may have a larger warhead on them.

Again, at this point there is no end in sight to the War in Ukraine but with America and others providing more and more drones it tells me that as long as Russia stays in Ukraine and no matter how bad it gets the Ukrainians will continue to kill Russian soldiers with advanced drones.  Or put another way, Russian can never "win" this war.

Russia now seems intent on completely cutting Ukraine off from the sea. A Russian General has said that phase 1 will take all of southern Ukraine and phase 2 may involve taking Moldova. Moldova's constitution by law keeps them neutral and forbids any foreign military presence. This could open them up as another land grab by Russia.

As Russia settles in on their ground and pound offense in the south, I fear the only way to stop them without NATO/US intervention will be a historic change in Moscow.

At this point the question seems to be how many Russian soldier deaths will it take for Russians to say enough. As long as Russian soldiers are in Ukraine, I think they have a target on them. Start training the snipers.

The CIA started training Ukrainian Snipers a few years ago.

This is a fantastic summary of the recent American aid to Ukraine.

Current situation, shows that Russia is well on their way to cutting Ukraine off from all seaports.

The mysterious Ukrainian fighter pilot hailed as the “Ghost of Kyiv” after reportedly shooting down dozens of Russian aircraft has been killed in battle, an outlet said Friday.

The man credited with as many as 40 downed Russian jets, was finally defeated when he found himself in situation where he was vastly outnumbered.

The UK is sending Ukraine 43 mile range UAVs able to deliver 150lb munitions.

The T150 cargo drone quadcopter can operate autonomously for 36 minutes. The drone has been tested in various meteorological and climatic conditions. It can be controlled from a laptop using the points on the map to determine the route of the flight. The drone is quite compact, which allows you to fold it in a special case.

These things pack some serious firepower and should be able to penetrate Russia and attack the Russians on Russian soil.

Looks like even the existence of the Ghost is in question now...possible the entire Ghost narrative was made up of the exploits of several pilots.

Made up was always my first thought.

Russia announced earlier this week that planes carry military supplies to Ukraine were considered legitimate targets.

My first question is, are supplies being flown in by the US and others or are Ukrainian planes going to pick up supplies and bring them in?

Second question. If US is delivering the supplies on US transport planes of the Air Force and one is shot down...do we respond/attack Russian assets used to down our plane?
