Very scary times.  I have been reading quite a bit about this, and won’t pretend to be an expert, but I still cannot believe that Russia is so brazen and is getting away with this.  Prayers to the peo

Russia announced earlier this week that planes carry military supplies to Ukraine were considered legitimate targets.

My first question is, are supplies being flown in by the US and others or are Ukrainian planes going to pick up supplies and bring them in?

Second question. If US is delivering the supplies on US transport planes of the Air Force and one is shot down...do we respond/attack Russian assets used to down our plane?

Not sure how they're getting the weapons to them.  But there is no question at all that the US responds if they're attacked.

I've mentioned before to a good friend and maybe on here, that Russian high tech modern equipment was trash.

  • Russia is taping basic GPS systems to the dashboards of Su-34 fighter jets, the UK defense minister said.
  • Ben Wallace said this was due to "the poor quality" of Russia's own navigation systems.

While it's laughable that Russia is resorting to handheld GPS to guide their planes, it doesn't shock me in the least.

Russia and even China, like to parade out these highly maneuverable (glorified stunt planes) at air shows around the world. They show off aerial tricks and incredible agility, and tell the world they they have the most advanced fighter jets in the world. They claim that their planes can perform this or that mission, can detect US Stealth aircraft at incredible ranges and are unmatched in dog fighting. In truth all they really have are a handful of test models that have none of the capabilities that they claim. Russian recently sent their indestructible newest battle tank into Ukraine, it was promptly destroyed.

Sheer numbers alone make the Russian Military a formidable opponent, but in my opinion if they faced off against the the US in a non nuclear war...it would get ugly for them very quickly. They could inflict damage to US forces of course, but that is smoke that they don't want.

Current flights in Europe, just crazy seeing this.

Finland and Sweden have both stated that they will start the process of joining NATO, in response to Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Another blow to the Russian power play in Eastern Europe.

Yeah this entire move by Russia has seemingly backfired terribly.  They've lost a great deal of military personnel and managed to let the world see their weaknesses.  All while also pushing Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

There is an ad from about 1:50 to 3:20 that you can skip, but this is very informative.

Does a good job laying out the strategic importance of Finland joining NATO.

Turkey has stated at this point they will vote against Finland and Sweden joining. It has to be unanimous for a new NATO member.

They discuss Turkey in the video, I think it will get worked out.

Is this still going on? Never in the news anymore.

Yes and if anything Ukraine is slowly losing.

War of attrition. The longer Ukraine hangs on, the worse it is for Russia. If NATO alliance survives this winter without Russian oil and gas, then it gets even worse for Russia. More isolation. Worsening economy in Russia. I think Russia bending on the grain shipments from Odessa, Ukraine is a sign of cracks in the Russian offensive. The next key area to watch is Kherson. If Ukraine can gain back ground there, the tide turns against Russia.

According to various reports it seems Russia has list over 5,000 pieces of equipment including 2,000 tanks. Third party estimates state close to 50,000 troops have been lost. Russia is to the point of bringing tanks over 50 years old out of storage to supplement their forces in the south.

Ukrainian forces have been very effective using the US supplied HIMARS rocket system. Taking out bridges and completely trapping Russian forces from retreating, which is allowing artillery to pound them.

Russia in the end can sustain much more in losses than Ukraine can endure. If Russia continues a pure war of attrition, they can outlast Ukraine...if they can stomach the losses.

Russia has no regard for human life - even their own countrymen. They are going to use the energy weapon on the EU nations in a few months. If the EU can withstand this winter without breaking, I think Russia will begin to feel enough pain that the tide will turn to Ukraine.
