I assume this photo and commentary are legit, if not please let me know anyone and I will remove it.  As seen around Facebook:

This is not a photo from 1941. This is a photo from March 2022 with all the color taken out.
A chilling reminder that history repeats…

Very scary times.  I have been reading quite a bit about this, and won’t pretend to be an expert, but I still cannot believe that Russia is so brazen and is getting away with this.  Prayers to the peo

How long until we have to fight to stop it?

Short of Nukes/ICBMs/Cruise Missiles, I would probably give the Ukrainians anything they want to fight the Russians, but no way on boots on the ground.

Let Poland transfer their Migs to Ukraine and the US give them the F-16's. Yay or nay?

Sure but I would rather arm the Ukrainians with the latest, greatest drones.  I would fly fleets of them at every Russian position and blow everything up.

I thought they were already getting some pretty solid drones from someone?  Drones are nice but the Migs change the game.

I am no expert here sf41 but the best drone (to my knowledge) the Ukrainians have is the Bayraktar TB2 drone which Fortune describes as:

"The cheap, slow, and bulky drones taking down Russian armored tanks for Ukraine."

According to news reports and Google, Ukraine has under a hundred ageing Soviet-era MiG-29 and Sukhoi-27 jets, and heavier Sukhoi-25 jets – and these are the only planes Ukrainian pilots could fly immediately without additional training.  Additionally, news reports say the Ukrainians have been flying 5 to 10 sorties a day meaning 5 to 10 planes a day flying for Ukraine.

According to Wikipedia  Russia has S-400 Triumf/Triumph anti-aircraft systems that were described by The Economist as "potent" and "one of the best air-defense systems currently made"[4] and Siemon Wezeman of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) remarked that it "is among the most advanced air defense systems available."[5]

Trying to come full circle and echoing some of the reasoning that has been given for not providing additional Mig29s at this time, with the small amount of sorties the Ukrainians have been flying due to S-400 Russian anti-aircraft systems (and of course other systems we have no clue about) additional Mig29s would not have much of an impact at this point.  With that said, Ukraine needs "bench strength" so I really don't buy into this theory and it appears to be another example of too little, too late or "slow roll" as I like to term it.

Now (and this is just my opinion), I do agree the additional Mig29s would not have an immediate effect but supplying the Ukrainians with state of the art drones instead of the 10 year old slow, cheap drones seems like the best thing the World could do for the Ukrainians at this point.

So to counter your point, more Mig29s would be nice but advanced drones may be able to change the game.

Some rumors floating that Iran has fired Cruise Missiles at US bases or the Consulate in Iraq.

If this is true, things could ratchet up quickly.

>>Update<<

A city in Iraq was hit, unconfirmed if any US bases were hit at this point.

Seems like the early rumors were true. Thankfully no casualties are being reported. The US does a good job of picking these things up early and getting people to evac or get in bomb shelters.

My question is why did they do this now? Was it at the behest of Russia to distract the US or draw them into battle with Iraq so they can get some indirect payback by furnishing weapons to Iran to hit us with.

This could be a major mess really quick.

Stars and Stripes took down earlier tweet. Not sure if there was no damage from this attack or if it's being covered up.

From Reuters.com:

ERBIL, Iraq, March 13 (Reuters) - Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for a dozen ballistic missiles that struck Iraq's northern Kurdish regional capital of Erbil in the early hours of Sunday, Iran's state media reported, adding that the attack was against Israeli "strategic centres" in Erbil.

An Israeli air strike in Syria on Monday killed two members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Iranian state media said last week. The IRGC vowed to retaliate, it said. Israel has not confirmed it carried out the strike.

Analysts say that Sunday's attack was more of a retaliation against last week's Israeli air strikes in Syria rather than an attack on the United States.

So if we take this report at face value this is an Iran/Israel back and forth.

Just like North Korea testing ICBMs, I don't know if it has anything to do with the War in Ukraine but the timing is noteworthy.

Here is a headline from NPR:

"(American) Journalist Brent Renaud is killed while reporting on the war in Ukraine."

Russia is now asking China for economic and military assistance.

I've wondered for years if they were overselling their capabilities and weaponry, surprisingly I think they were.

It's still mind boggling that mighty Russia needs weapons from China. That they are trying to recruit soldiers from Syria and trying to entice Belarus into fighting is still shocking.

Oil down to $101 a barrel.  Let’s get down to the 90’s, then settle in the 80’s. This will take another 30-60 days more than likely.
