I agree with all of this. Hopefully it isn't true. 

I can't imagine Coach Warner putting in all the effort he has been putting into the Boone County football program only to jump ship and just play play.  I haven't reached out to him and we will all find out soon enough but if that is the decision Boone County makes my advice to any parent that has a talented football player would be to get out of Boone County immediately.  I would probably go to Cooper if football was important.  Beechwood and CovCath would also be good landing spots.  Conner is down and Ryle has too much competition in 6A so I would rule them out.

My prediction is Belfry remains in 2A when the dust settles.

If they stay in 2A those District games and even Region games in the playoffs become super close and convenient with three fellow teams from Pike County and Martin County that is less than 45 minutes away. You potentially have a sister District of three Floyd County teams (hour or less) and probably no more than an hour and a half.

Moving to 3A and your shortest District game is an hour plus (Magoffin and Lawrence) with 2+ hours for some teams and Region Teams. Either they are the outlier for a NEKY District, an outlier for that Southern Kentucky District, or an outlier for that Mountain Parkway District.

Remember, Belfry has struggled to find teams to play them in their non-district and it usually involves long road trips. This will remain the case certainly regardless if they are 2A or 3A, the last thing you want when you are having to travel multiple 2.5 Hour Trips in the non-district is to have to have longer rides in your District.

I would agree. However, the best landing spot isn’t just automatically programs that can win state titles, unless you’re one of the few super elite players, I’m which case you probably aren’t at Boone (or any of the non elite programs) anyway. I mean really, should no one go to Ryle to play football because they’ll never likely win 6A? They’ve still sent plenty of guys on to the next level who have had nice college careers. 

In the past, If a team opts out of district play it is for the whole 4 year alignment. So incoming freshmen would never experience a playoff game. The only teams that should consider dropping out are the teams that struggle to field a team each year.

Pair up with Louisville area teams, Lexington/75, or just fill in where Mason County was?

Seems to me we will have a couple long district games no matter what.

There's lots of moving parts. I think the only close to sure things are 1. Lloyd will almost certainly be in district with Pendleton, and 2. They'll have a couple hour plus road trips. While just placing them in district where Mason was might be easy, I doubt it will happen. There are multiple dominos that will fall and everything right now if just conjecture. Getting away from Beechwood though and into 3A I think is a plus for the program, which is currently on the rise.

My guess is with Pendleton, Fleming, Lewis, and either Bourbon or Bath County. My alignment projection has Bath, but who am I? Lol

I would imagine they would certainly be in with Pendleton regardless, but if you take Henry County in they it sets up a weird division between the East/West sides for RPI in round 3. It could also make the number of teams unbalanced on the East/West side too. Not sure how much of a factor either make, if any.

At some point, Boone County Schools (the district) needs to look inward and do the right thing for those kids at BCHS.  Paul Brown is not walking through that door.  Heck, even if he did, he might not be able to do as good a job as Bryson.  Bryson was, and continues to be, the best coach for that program.  Meaning this:  If Bryson can't turn the ship around at his alma mater, I am not sure anyone can.  If all that's true, then what is it?  Is it facilities?  No.  Is it enrollment numbers?  No.  Put simply, its the district that Boone County High School pulls from.  And, this isn't meant as a slight to kids that live in the district and go to BCHS.  But, statistics will show, and common sense backs up, that when you have free and reduced lunch numbers feeding into BCHS that none of the other three high schools in Boone County do then participation in all athletics will suffer tremendously.  So, as to them potentially opting out of district play... and I have no inside information this is the case... but if Boone County Schools isn't going to help BCHS with where it draws kids from, then why should BCHS give the other two Boone County high schools district wins for the next four years.

I can't imagine the Boone County Board of Education would allow any of the schools to not play in district nor Coach Warner being interested in that as competitive a guy as he is and the work he and his  staff are putting in. 

I am always curious about the fascination with Cooper football being the best in the county to go to @theguru certainly they have some great players and a solid staff but the program itself hasn't out performed all the programs in the county nor their current district and 5A will still not be a walk in the park. Ryle playing in 6A certainly has massive hurdles (even higher with some new additions) to winning a title but the program has sent a lot of players to the next level to play and I'd guess more than Cooper even Conner may have more alumni who have been offered to play. The point being the county isn't a one stop program I can live with the what are your goals when considering a school (hopefully it's academics first) but outside of some rumors of getting a lot of kids approved who may be out of district I don't see where Cooper is the best program in the county.

I have also heard that Boone was considering dropping out of district play, at least that was the word before this rough draft was released.  Which as someone else mentioned, I also heard they were trying to convince a few other ones to go non district with them, to help fill the “district” part of the schedule when everyone else is playing district games. . And as others have said it literally makes zero sense for Boone to want to opt out of district play. The kids at Boone would have nothing to strive for, and just no real reason to even play if they opted out. Even though they haven’t won a district game in years, it is still something the kids can play for. Trying to get that district win and making the playoffs. Which I think they can do in this new district.  So I would assume they probably won’t opt out.  However, apparently the rumor probably had at least some truth to it considering multiple people have also heard the same thing.

So by going non district and avoiding playing district games, is that really doing right by the kids as you say? Teaching the young men to run from a challenge in their own district, against a lot of other kids that they have known and played with and against all their lives? Especially with how the how new district looks, it would be absolutely dumb to opt out of district play. The players would literally have ZERO reason to even play.  When they legit probably have a chance to find a district win next year, and play in the playoffs for the first time in years. With Scott joining the district, that’s a team they have beaten I think the last two years. Then Conner they at least  competed with really well last year.

You will notice that I didn't say they should opt out of district play.  I am simply giving a possible reason as to why they would consider it.  And honestly, who can blame them?  Look, the BCHS people have been begging, pleading, for years to just equal the playing field even a little bit.  They have a "program building" coach who's an alum, their facilities match at least the other Boone County high schools, but they are locked into an area with zero new home starts.  So I guess you are correct, they have a chance to make the playoffs by beating Scott, but they aren't beating Conner or Cooper anytime soon.  Conner has everyone back next year and should be decent to above average the next few years.  Cooper will have its sights set on deep 5A playoff runs for the next two or three years.
