Open Job: Lincoln County

I'd have to think Rogers and Cooper will be applying elsewhere is Lincoln doesn't act on them soon. Seems like the incorrect approach from the administration from who I've spoken with.

Until the football program is given the same attention as the basketball program it will always play second fiddle.

  • I am not a candidate for the Lincoln County job. But, if @Mr.Network accepts the head coaching position, and @theguru is on staff, I will commit to setting up the pylons before the game.  According to

  • I think there is a pretty wide gulf between the jobs that people connect to Josh and those he actually applies for.  Not saying that is the case here, but he doesn't apply or go after a lot of the job

Probably waiting until basketball season is over before making a hire. That kind of distraction/excitement would take away from their season! (completely joking, btw)..

If Lincoln has not started interviews yet, they are dropping the ball on this hire. While I haven't seen anything publicly, I would have to think by Lincoln waiting, it does not sound well for Rogers and Cooper. Can anybody better than me and with more sources provide any update? Schools seem to be hiring every day but Lincoln is in no hurry.

They're interviewing.

It’s becoming more and more obvious of why Coach Crutchfield left at the first chance he got.

Why because they are doing their due diligence on hiring the next coach? That doesn’t make much sense, Garrard took forever too, it’s just all part of the process. Give it time, we have had holidays and everything too, that extends the time they needed to get this done.

I think Rodgers will eventually end up at Garrard County under Coach Crutchfield.

Pretty sure that staff is set isn’t it? I might be wrong but thought someone said they already had their staff in place, but I’m sure they could find a spot somewhere.

Where have you heard interviews began?

The problem with taking your time now is that the off-season has already started and isn't going to wait around. I understand the kids are in the weight room with Coach Rogers now, but if he isn't the guy and doesn't stay that's time you lose in the transition.

Garrard didn't take forever.  They took exactly 1 month.

With workouts already starting under the direction of Rogers/Cooper (And I reached out, it is both.) I find it interesting neither has had an interview. And if they have, it is not well known. The job itself is still posted, which is now at 4 weeks. That seems longer than MOST jobs this season. Are they waiting out somebody? If not, then why has Rogers and Cooper not been interviewed?

My point: Two assistant coaches who have applied and are qualified to coach are not being informed of any type of decision. I find that as bad communication from the administration. They either want one of these guys or they don't.

Other schools this offseason have not handled business this way. Hires have been much quicker. With the Garrard job, Crutchfield was linked from the beginning, but Lincolns season had not even ended, he could not publicly say he was interviewing. This situation is much different, in my opinion. I'm interested to see if anything happens this week.

Take a deep breath. It hasn't been a month yet since Coach Crutchfield was announced at Garrard County.

Lincoln County listed the job on their school's site on December 15th, and in most situations schools try to have, or even require having a 30 day open application period. 30 days from December 15th is January 14th, so Friday. Garrard County took just over 30 days from the point where they let Coach Perry go to the point where Coach Crutchfield was announced. Edmonson County took a little over a month. Magoffin County took almost 2 full months. Montgomery County took almost a month and a half. Lincoln County definitely isn't dragging things out yet, by any means.

As for all the Levi Rogers speculation...he seems like a more than likely candidate to apply, with the exception of being relatively newly married, and being a brand new first-time dad. Do we know for sure that he has applied?

And if the coaches have applied and aren't being informed of any type of decision by the administration, do we know if they've asked when they can expect to hear any kind of info on the decision making process?

Thank you. Sheesh, plus with holidays as well, this is actually right on schedule with any other hire. Everybody freaking out for really no reason. Lol

Great point about the holidays too. That could be a pretty reasonable cause for adding a few more days into the process too.

Levi Rogers has applied for the job. From what I have gathered from a very reliable source, there are 4 people being considered for the job. Interviews have been taking place with 2 of the 4 already been completed. So hopefully we will know something within the next week.
