I would say no BUT it would really help the situation of always being around your players in the school.  I know that was one of the minor knocks about BW was that he was over in the Middle School and not in the High School during school hours.  Granted I know he ventured over to the cafeteria to be around the kids during that time.

That is the right position on this IMO. It is one of many factors in making a choice but it is a big plus for a candidate to teach in the high school.

Why were those knocks against Weinrich?  It was administration who made the decision for him to stay teaching in Middle School and supervise the cafeteria at the High School.  Then the cafeteria duty was removed a couple years ago so another class in middle school could be added to his schedule.

Is he Dusty Class’s son? Dusty Class was a baseball guy graduated from Highlands in ‘99. 

I think what this thread shows is that Highlands football is relevant in the state of Kentucky.  

Unfortunately it also shows how overwhelmed the administration is with this entire process.

Feel sorry for the kids and how they have been jerked around by the administration.

Football used to be the “king” at Highlands and that was for good reason.  Current administration does not have these same feelings as evidenced by how this entire process has unfolded.

Question for any parents of current players. I know you’re on here. What’s the situation with winter weights, 60 minutes, etc? Are they working out or not. What timeline that has been provided? Aren’t the middle schoolers typically hitting the weights by now?

I’m not connected to the program but I believe a poster earlier stated the team wasn’t allowed in the weight room currently. Now that is the case at a number of places currently.

Currently, the players are being encouraged to work out on their own. There is currently no organized weight program for the high school or the middle school. There have been coaches from the previous staff who are in the building who have volunteered to organize weight sessions but the principal and AD have told them no. I know a lot of players are working out with Jordan Nevels for weights and Kevin Siple for skill development.

Yes with Siple and Nevels correct.   I am not pleased with current admin on 60 minutes or weight sessions.  I suggest they move forward quickly at least with the program.  Wes doesn’t want to come to the table with nothing by next promise date.  I can assure you of that.

Our weight room is open at St.X but just keeping numbers down and have spray sanitizer for after use. Seems to be working so far.

I know your just the messenger. But what about the players that can't afford specialized training? If I was a parent this would not sit well with me. Especially when you have a facility on campus such as the field house.

You are preaching to the choir. It is absolutely absurd that the administration will not allow the coaches who volunteered to run the weight program in the interim actually run it. I know as a fan, I am really worried about players leaving the program or choosing not to play football. If I put myself in the shoes of a player, it is hard not to think "screw this, they cant even hire a coach, i'll take my chances elsewhere".

Exactly!!!!!!

From what I understand, the facility is spoken for every day up to 2/15.

Let’s see a group of boys workout in Beechmont 8:30 and get home after 10 but the field house is unavailable?  Perhaps somebody can inform us on the scheduling of events.
