I understand the theory behind this.  But I literally can’t find anything from any credible sources anywhere to support the claim. If this were the case, people should have lived longer in the days before modern sanitation, and the recommendation has always been to wash your hands.  Parents have been telling kids to do that forever.  If constant exposure was important, why wash your hands at all?and if lots of exposure was important, even with a mask, you are still being constantly exposed to bacteria and other contaminants throughout the day. Besides, you’re not being told to wear the mask 24-7...just an hour or so a day while out in public.  I find it hard to believe wearing a mask 10 or even 20% a day is going to be harmful.

It would be hard to find much credible information on it because its never been forced upon large swaths of the population before, kinda like this virus, there isn't much credible information on it either.

Hygiene should always be practiced so there is nothing wrong with kids washing their hands hah. When it is taken to an extreme it can become counter productive though. If kids never have a chance to build an immune system they're going to get sick more often.

I'm not talking about constant exposure, just your average day to day exposure like we do with the flu, etc. Also a lot of people don't have the opportunity to only be spending an hour or two a day amongst the public unless they're retired.

Even with a vaccine people will still get the corona. Eventually we have to decide to stop living in fear and move on.

Why weren't mask mandated back in March during peak mortality rates?

It doesn't matter. If science supports wearing a mask now, then wear the mask.

I am watching Indy Car from Road America in Wisconsin and they were bragging about it being the largest crowd back at any event and I didn't see a single mask.  Now it is spread out because it is a huge road course but there are still multiple people together in multiple areas with no mask.

If wearing a mask weakens your immune system then maybe talk to a doctor, dentist or any number of other professions that wear masks on a daily basis on how they keep their immune system up and running.

Those people are exposed to so many germs that make their way through the masks that they likely have a very strong immune system.

Part of that is true but that wasn’t the case when they first started. Nor are they the only profession or even hobby that requires/best practice to wear some form of mask. I get the point about hand sanitizer and there has been an over use of that product for a very long time.

This thread I feel has kind of veered off course. If an individual doesn’t want to wear a mask but wants HS football or even HS sports/school in general I have to ask. What is that individual doing to help football/sports/school return? Following the requests to take measures that would help lower the risk of transmission is not hard. There are hundreds of things we have all experienced in one fashion or form that is hard. This stuff ain’t hard.

No mask during peak mortality, yes to mask during the lowest mortality rate.  I'm not against mask, i'm against contradiction.

Is it possible we learned something in the last couple months? As we learn thoughts and opinions can and should change.

It took us 4 months to realize we should wear mask for a highly contagious respiratory disease, with its main symptom being a cough?

This is a legit question. Wasn’t it suggested going back to March to wear a mask? I see the difference between suggestion and mandate. I feel like I’ve been wearing a mask going back to March or so. Maybe it was a suggestion which is different than our current state. Even now though you have people that will refuse to wear a mask for a highly contagious respiratory disease.

The current state might be an example of two steps forward three steps back. We made progress and then got reckless/laxxed so we are where we are. Maybe if it was a mandate from the beginning things would of been better. People after all of this and the stress/hardships that this has created have become less likely to comply. There is a whole other issue of the ripple affect of noncompliance which is probably better for another thread.

And the purpose of the question is what? If we now know we should be wearing masks, what difference does it make hiw and when learned that?

Too show the hypocrisy again.  I'll go with it though, at one point in society a firefighter thought to use water on a fire.  Again, i'm not against mask.

Kind of like teachers, minus the mask during normal years.

The Earth was flat; doctors let leaches drain blood, smoking causes cancer, lobotomies ... I guess today we would say it was all hypocrisy. Or maybe even say they are all liars and manipulators.
