I think it will be played at later date but who really knows.

There are so many logistical questions about how that I can't even wrap my head around it. What would happen to the conditioning of the teams? When would they be allowed to practice? How hard would it be to book Rupp?

I'm sure they'll try everything possible to make it happen, but I think there's a reason they were willing to try to bull their way through this. They knew it would be extremely difficult to start it back up again.

GIRLS’ AND BOYS’ STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY

Based on additional information and guidance from both the Kentucky Department of Education and the Governor’s office in the last hour, at this time, the girls’ state tournament is postponed indefinitely effective with the conclusion of game five. Next week’s boys’ basketball tournament is also postponed indefinitely. The Association will try and seek options for rescheduling later in the spring if at all possible, but not until after we have received collaborative approval from our Governor’s office, the Commissioner of Public Health and the Kentucky Department of Education.

As has been stated for the last two weeks, the situation with the COVID-19 or Coronavirus is extremely fluid. As announced earlier today, our intention was to attempt to complete this first tournament with restrictions, however, this does not appear to be a wise option at this time and is not in the best interest of the student-athletes and the thousands of individuals who attend these events. The KHSAA has to make the health and welfare of the citizens of our great Commonwealth the primary factor in our decision-making process in dealing with this issue.

We are hopeful that with all of the collaborative efforts of the citizens of our Commonwealth, we see this situation subside very quickly, and we have to be leaders in that journey. We also encourage all Kentucky citizens to pay close attention to the CDC and Kentucky health information at kycovid19.ky.gov and strictly adhere to those CDC guidelines, which are always subject to revision as we learn more about the virus.

Announcements will be coming later today regarding refund options for tickets that were purchased as well as other logistics and information for fans.

Postponed sounds better than canceled, but I'd say they don't happen.

Not fair to baseball to postpone and play. Unless it was postponed for a week, there is no way they finish it out. Baseball probably be canceled as well.

Not sure what is the correct terminology but the words used in it are: SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY not sure what that really means either. It’s sad for all the teams involved.

I understand the necessity of it, but I really feel bad for all the young athletes that won't get to play at Rupp. Hopefully the tournament can resume later, but that's likely a fool's dream.

First time since 1987 that I have missed. Another member of my group had been there 61 straight years. He says he is done with going and I am thinking about it.

How can they explain that it was safe to play the first girls game today but all of a sudden it was unsafe to play the second? Sounds like someone else made the decision for Julian.

You're not missing, it is not being played.

I'm hearing a lot of talk of the possibility that this tournament will not resume entirely. I really hope that will not be the case. That'd be an incredible missed opportunity for the peaking teams that have had their eyes on the trophy recently.

Henny Penny said that the State Tournament is being suspended.

IMO, a sad state of affairs with others making decisions for us.

This is now setting a precedent that will be easier to repeat off in the future.

Maybe they could hold it at GRC, there must be no threat of Corona there - they sold out Tuesday night.
