The Courier-Journal's Jason Frakes was at today's KHSAA Board Of Control meeting today and tweeted this little nugget:

KHSAA going to begin exploring idea of finishing both state basketball tournaments before NCAA Tournament begins. Possibility of starting season the Monday before Thanksgiving, keeping 12-week regular season. One concern is more conflicts with football. More discussion in May.

I like it.

It will happen next year due to UK hosting NCAA games. Tackett thinks attendance will improve if it isn’t going against the NCAA tournament.

The years I've been there, attendance was noticeably different when UK was playing during the sessions.

I'm for it.

Failure to place punctuation.

Conflicts with football would be minimal, as only 24 teams would still be playing football that week.

I think that'd be a welcome change of pace.

That is going to be a busy time of year for sure.

Boys is March 3-7 next year. Girls 10-14. I am of the belief that March Madness is the least of their worries.

It doesn’t matter what they do. There is no right answer. People will complain if they do something. People will complain if they don’t do something.

I think the KHSAA leadership commits a variety of errors, but on this I agree. There is no way to please everyone on this issue.

It will have no bearing on the attendance, it's just todays culture. Actually the less people in attendance, the better I like it. Just makes it easier to get around, inside and out.

I'll add to this, dropping the curtains on the endzone upper deck seats has made the atmosphere better. With the addition of chair back seats on the sides of the upper deck I think those seats, while not great, will be much more appealing to the average fan than the old benches.

I like the idea.

Yep.
