January 20, 20197 yr It was, but it didn't end the game like everyone is acting. You are right, it didn't but it should have. That's the point.
January 21, 20197 yr It was, but it didn't end the game like everyone is acting. No fumble Payton said they would have took three knees down kicked the FG there would have been around 4-7 seconds left. Yes he could have missed and still lost in OT and I’d been the first to say congrats to the Rams. Heck of a game.
January 21, 20197 yr Yes, yes it did. As sweet points out above, the Saints could’ve run the clock down to nothing if that gets called. That is ending the game. My point was that even with the bad call, the Saints defense had two chances to win the game and the offense had one chance to win it. Yes, if called the Saints most likely would have won. However they still had plenty of chances after that.
January 21, 20197 yr It was a very exciting game to watch. Too bad the referees horrendous call basically decided the game. It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth...I really had no dog in the fight but that was so blatant. I feel very bad for the Saints and I actually feel bad for the refs who blew it. I am sure they feel awful about it...
January 21, 20197 yr Good game, but sad to see it decided by horrible officiating. Thrilled for Whit to get free of Mikey's grasp & finally get to the SB--Well deserved, but sad for Brees & company to get screwed out of a trip to the big game--Especially when there were two obvious penalties, not just one!!
January 21, 20197 yr That no call was absolutely atrocious. There's simply nothing Saints fans can do about it sadly besides just accepting it and moving on. I really do not care about New Orleans winning anything; but this one made me upset as a sports fan.
January 21, 20197 yr Glad for Whitworth. Nice to see the Bengals new coach get Super Bowl experience. It will be hard for me to root for the Rams in the Super Bowl after that missed call. Said the same thing after the game was over. Someone on Facebook said "Well, it's not the Rams fault that the refs didn't call the penalty." To which I replied, no, but after seeing the defensive back act on the sidelines afterwards, there's no way I'm rooting for them. Dude, you just got one of the luckiest no-calls in the history of the NFL. You should be thanking your lucky stars that your actions didn't cost your team a trip to the Super Bowl....not over there preening like a peacock. I'm hoping Brady torches him specifically for 4 TD's next time out.
January 21, 20197 yr Blown calls like that, at this level should never happen. I understand if this was the NBA.
January 21, 20197 yr Refs missed that call, we all agree. Here are some other points in the game to discuss... How about Saints only getting 6 points on back to back redzone trips to open the game. Goff going from looking lost to start the game to completing 7 or 8 passes in a row in the 2nd half and leading the Rams back. Horrible time management/play calling by the Saints that allowed the Rams time to tie it up at the end. Rams driving down for a TD on a quick strike drive to cut it to 13 to 10 at the half. Brees throwing a pick under pressure in OT. Greg the Leg kicking a game winning 57 yard FG, that would have been good from 67! This game was much more than just that missed call. January 21, 20197 yr Rule 17, Section 2, Article 1: “The Commissioner has the sole authority to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary and/or corrective measures if any club action, non-participant interference, or calamity occurs in an NFL game which the Commissioner deems so extraordinarily unfair or outside the accepted tactics encountered in professional football that such action has a major effect on the result of the game.”

January 21, 20197 yr The PI call would have ended the game but you can't say that won or lost the game. There are too many plays and other calls throughout the game to ever say that in any sport. Goff should have gotten a face mask call on the possession before which seemed pretty obvious. It would have been 1st and goal and likely would have resulted in a TD instead of a FG. They also should have made a play and scored a TD anyway but didn't. Same way the Saints could have made a play to win the game. They had the ball to start OT. Brady doesn't give the ball to the other team; Brees and the Saints did. The Saints lost it, period. However, this is the Calvin Johnson in the end zone, Dez Bryant going for the goal line, etc. etc. play. There will be a rule change. Maybe not review everything but have some language that allows something like this to be challenged.
