It's a vicious cycle. I'm sure New Cath is aware of it, every bit as much as you are @brooksville. Bear in mind, the gyms at Cov Cath and New Cath are currently 67 years old. The HVAC systems both were in poor condition within the last 8 or 9 years...in January 2014 there was a game at Cov Cath game that was called at half time the ventilation was so poor that the floor was wet from condensation. Catholic schools, much to the disbelief of many public school folks, do not, in fact, have piles of gold lining the halls. They have to fund raise and save for repairs - especially unforeseen repairs when something like a roof leak happens. The truth of the matter is, to properly repair the paint on that roof decking, New Cath needs to close down the gym, sand-blast all of the metal roof structure, and then repaint everything. That'll take at least a month or so. It'll also cost a pretty penny. In the mean time, some badly flaking, rust-stained paint is definitely unsightly, but it's by no means "falling apart". 1

I've learned since Trump became president don't always believe everything you look up on Internet especially when it makes no sense ie. bring in a small class lose a big class yet gain 26 students which didn't add up. Directly from the NCC 2017-18 school profile from their website "NCC enrollment 311 young men and women in grades 9-12. There are 60 freshmen,83 sophomores, 86 juniors, and 82 seniors for the 2017-2018 academic year". So safe to say with 82 seniors graduating unless 71 are in next freshmen class enrollment drops below 300. On 1/10/2018 at 5:33 PM, Proudmom5 said: I quoted a number that was given to me by someone that I felt would know. And so I passed them on, I know we've had several transfers, I personally know 6 to be exact this school year from Highlands ,Holy Cross, and Ryle. In fact two of them we're athletes and could not play Varsity Sports due to transferring and could only play JV. My point was not about the football field whether they do or don't build one, but you're being a bit of a drama Queen. If we had 327 students in 2016-2017 and our lowest freshman class ON RECORD for 2017-2018 and our enrollment only dropped by 15. Your original comment said we could potentially drop to 250. That is quite a leap. No the ACT score is not 12, not sure what that means. We have a 30+ plaque and every graduating class adds 4-8 names each school year. Approx 75% of each of the last 3 or 4 graduating classes have had GPA above 4.0 each , and averaging out over 4 yrs approximately 27 students per graduating class with a 5.0 or above. These are estimates since I am not home and can't double check. But every graduation they print out all of this info. The last 4 yrs we have also stayed around 5 million in scholarships each yr. Not bad for such a small school. We don't care that you call us small because it just makes our accomplishments more impressive. Yes , we tend to be the red headed step child when it comes to the Diocese we don't get new sports complexes like St Henry or help with million dollar renovations like BB, yes I am aware they did alot of fundraising and I am not putting them down. Good for them, it looks great! But if there numbers are that much lower than ours, then how was that feasible? On 1/10/2018 at 7:23 PM, Rap said: Don't see myself being a drama queen I threw out some numbers and said why I think a multi million dollar field was risky. You came back and told me I was wrong about my numbers and quoted numbers and then did some false google search that was also wrong. Sorry I went to the actual school website and backed up my statement with actual numbers. Now you say my statement of trend to 250 students is quite a stretch? Is it really? 2010-11=425 students , 2017-18=311 students. 7 years and a loss of 114 kids or 27% of students . So you can't see it going to 250 students on this trend and it's a reach? Rumors are the next class is really gonna be small and beat the record of lowest freshmen enrollment ever just set. I'm not looking to argue but I made a statement of why I thought it was risky and you called me a fool. I think my facts support this is risky. Now back when school was booming 7 years ago with 425 kids I would have had a different answer. 1. I can't believe that I just took the time to read all of this lol. 2. Where did the enrollment numbers end up a few years down the road? Did it ever hit 250?

Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted November 22, 2022 Author Posted November 22, 2022 NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC LAUNCHES $13 MILLION CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR FACILITY UPGRADES AND ON-CAMPUS ATHLETIC COMPLEX November 21, 2022 Recently, Newport Central Catholic High School officially launched the “Looking Up” Capital Campaign. The Campaign Chairman, Pat Burke ’73 announced at the school’s Winners’ Circle event that Bishop John C. Iffert, Bishop of Covington, approved a $13 million campaign. “Looking Up” will fund extensive renovations and significant new construction at the school. Seventeen generous donors have already committed $7.8 million to this endeavor. The remainder will come from the public phase of the campaign. Initiatives to be funded by the generous contributions of alumni and friends of the school include: 1) New state-of-the-art Science Learning Center with STEM Labs 2) Campus and existing Facilities improvements including roof repair/replacement, campus entryway enhancements, driveway expansion, and HVAC upgrades to the gymnasium and original school building 3) Elimination of Debt 4) Building of On-Campus Multi-Purpose Athletic Complex providing a home field for our boys & girls soccer, track, and football teams and a practice facility for our baseball & softball teams Principal Kenny Collopy said, “We are overwhelmed and blessed by the generosity of our benefactors who have committed investments in the silent phase of this campaign and are so excited for our students and community. We are making improvements to more than just facilities, and these updates will go a long way in enhancing the NCC experience by providing great resources for our students, teachers, staff, and community.” He added, “This campaign captures our rich traditions and reaffirms our commitment to our school’s mission and five pillars of Faith, Family, Academic Excellence, Character Development, and Community Stewardship. Its success will have a profound impact on the students and communities we serve, solidifying NCC as a leading Catholic school in the area.” The Looking Up Campaign is the result of extensive, collaborative planning over many years which included an evaluation of the school’s programs, facilities, and financial resources. Hundreds of volunteers have been involved in the planning process. Fundraising will continue throughout the next year. Advancement Director Charles Marks said, “These improvements have been a dream for many people for a long, long time. We are thrilled to be making this dream a reality and for the impact it will have on our students. We are very grateful for those who have already made a commitment and to those who will make a commitment in the coming months. Not only are we excited for our current and future students, we are also excited to have this happen for our alumni and their parents- those who believed in our mission years ago, and who continue to be proud of where God is leading this great institution. Continue Looking Up, Thoroughbreds, great things are happening!” NCC is projecting its first enrollment growth in over 15 years for the 2023-24 school year. The goal of this campaign and new construction is to build further momentum in attracting more students, better serve those who are currently at NCC, and to help surpass the high standards that NCC has continually held in its longstanding tradition of Catholic education and service to Northern Kentucky. Fundraising will continue throughout the next year. Renovations to the Science Learning Center could begin as early as spring of 2023. 4 1
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted July 30, 2024 Author Posted July 30, 2024 Per the NKY Tribune, Newport Central Catholic will have a groundbreaking ceremony for their new athletic complex on August 9th. They're waiting on bids to come back on the construction, and the budget is just shy of $8 Million. The complex will include a turf football/soccer field surrounded by a six-lane track, with a building that incorporates locker rooms, public restrooms, and a press box. I'm assuming the building will also include grandstand, but the article didn't state that clearly. They will also be constructing a field house to house an indoor practice facility, which may or may not happen as a part of the initial construction improvements. Construction schedule is slated for somewhere between 12 and 18 months, and Principal Collopy is quoted as being "cautiously optimistic" to have fall sports played on the new field in 2025. Their fundraising campaign, which was outlined in the previous post in this thread, was able to successfully secure $14 Million in pledges for renovations and additions to the school and campus. I'm really glad to see the New Cath community rally around the school like they have! https://nkytribune.com/2024/07/newport-central-catholic-schedules-groundbreaking-ceremony-for-athletic-complex-to-be-built-on-campus/ 2 1

Breds82 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 It’s been a long time coming but I can say for many former students this is as about exciting as it can be. Finally to have your own home field, it’s hard to put into words. I have so many fond memories of the game day routine, going over who was starting where, praying at the grotto, then getting on the Blue Goose to ride to our game. If we played at Newport we had the people on 9th street yelling at us, whether we were playing Newport or not. The rides home after we won or lost (total silence). But this is something we wish we all had when we went to school at NCC. Can’t say enough good things about Principal Callopy and everyone else involved. 2

Hemmer Construction originally agreed to a 13 month construction schedule for the stadium back in August of 2024. They broke ground on October 4th and were saying they hoped to open the stadium in "late fall of 2025." Twenty years of construction experience tells me that with all of the earthwork they're having to do for that stadium, it's prettttttty unlikely that they're going to finish on schedule. Not trying to be a straight pessimist...honestly I hope they get it done all the sooner, but I wouldn't plan on seeing any 2025 football games played there. 2
