Just for kicks, what I'd really like is to see an actual press release from the KTD, or an actual news story that explains why the Erlanger exits are closed as part of the project. These exits are only 10 miles and five exits/interchanges away, after all.

 

That would be some good summer reading material right there. Zero chance we see a good answer.

 

The design of the interchange with those exits cause backups daily at rush hour. 275 East can back up to Mineola Pike and 275 West can back up close to Turkeyfoot at times. With the additional traffic on 275 due to this project, closing those ramps will ease some of the congestion merging onto 71/75 South from 275.

Monday's 4 pm drive home wasn't bad, I was rather pleased. I'm not counting on it staying that way, but I sure hope it does!

 

I thought my 4:30 drive felt pretty normal as well.

 

Two AMs and a PM trip and I'm hesitant to say that I over exaggerated its affect on my commute. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays like its been so far.

 

Same here. I'm taking a different route in the AM, but I still get to work the same time I did going 275 to 471.

 

Yesterday's afternoon commute seemed very normal.

 

This will all end in a couple of days when people go back to thinking that they can still leave at their normal time and drive like they usually do.

Glad everyone else commute went fine. I think it is just me. Going to Reds game Thursday night and guarantee the route I take #27 to 471 to Levee exit will be a parking lot

Made the trip up 471 to 71 to Ridge last night for work and returned home this morning with no issues.

The lady in charge of Brent Spence Bridge Media Relations has one of the worst jobs of all time. She's basically the local version of Sean Spicer. I saw a couple interviews yesterday and she stated that the maintenance project would be an inconvenience but it would "guarantee the safety of the bridge for many many years." Uhh, yeah, okay lady.

Saturday, coming from the south on 71/75, I ran in to 4 lanes stopped dead south of Erlanger. I called RTS and he had me get off at exit 184, take the road there to Dixie Hwy, and head north. I ran into some stop and go on the twisty part of West Pike just before going into Covington, still that route seemed much faster than standing still on the interstate.

I can't imagine many areas worse than this one after being caught up in it at 10 this morning.

Any idea of the backup from Culver's to the Mall Road, is this normal at lunch time?

 

This is normal for most days between 11:30-12:30.

 

This is my delivery area every day, and I try to get rid of all stops on this stretch of 42 in the morning so I don't have to deal with this fiasco in the afternoon.

I was up in NKY visiting family, and made the hike up to Ikea in West Chester to pick up a few things. When we were crossing the bridge I noticed that the trucks on the construction side of the barricades all said Hall Contracting of Kentucky.

 

I've worked with them a few times over the years. All I can say is, based on my professional experience with them...I've got my fingers crossed for you folks up north.

I left early this morning to check out the drive. At 6:30am the traffic sign at Mineola (275E approaching 7175N) said 30 minutes to downtown, which was right on, got downtown at 7am. It wasn’t bad at all but there’s no way I’m getting up that early the rest of the summer. LOL.

 

Anyway…. When I passed the construction there were 2 bridge workers chilling out, sitting on the concrete walls near the edge of the bridge, legs dangling. I assume there’s space between them and the drop off to the river??? But it made me panicky to see, lol.

Well, when you take the lowest bid, I guess you take a gamble on all the "other stuff" that comes with it.

While I'm not sure you'll see it on the news or directly from the folks behind the Erlanger closures. I did get an e-mail that confirmed that essentially due to the heavy flow of traffic from 275 EAST and WEST converging on a part of I-75 South, which is already a nightmare they opted to just close the exits. They acknowledged that aggressive driving is prevalent on that stretch of road, because it also serves as a merging point for East and West on to 75 south. So they figured let's just avoid a stretch that could bring traffic to a halt completely and just have it slower through that stretch.
