March 27, 20179 yr My Facebook feed yesterday was full of "The Refs suck", "Hard to win when it's 8 against 5", "The NCAA definitely wants an ACC team in the Final 4". You can count on it 95% of the time when Kentucky loses or is losing. It gets old and it's embarrassing. Sure there were some missed calls. There are missed calls every game, and it goes both ways. Sounding like a bunch of sore losers every time we lose probably ranks a little higher over the arrogance on why most people hate Kentucky. The idea put forth by so many fans that it would be a conspiracy is so laughable. Bottom line, Kentucky lost. North Carolina played better, or at least hit the shot that mattered most. The referees may have been suspect in the eyes of some, but I'd guess similar complaints were posted on Tarheelpreps.com yesterday, too. Nobody is a better television draw than Kentucky and nobody sells more tickets than Kentucky. If it is all about making money (hint: it is), then I would think the NCAA would want Kentucky going as far as possible and getting there as easy as possible. But that isn't how any of this works.

March 27, 20179 yr Nobody calls a timeout in that situation, IMO. You just tied the game and are gonna give your opposition the opportunity to draw up a play to beat you? Nah... I disagree with this wholesale. People have different philosophies on it, but it is definitely not "nobody". Plus, it's not as if North Carolina couldn't have called a timeout themselves to draw up a play. What you saw is why there are some coaches who don't call a timeout to set up a play. The defense isn't set, and that can lead to chaos that the offense can take advantage of. You can see on the replay that Cal and assistants are motioning for the players not to press and get back. It happened so fast that Bam, Willis, Fox, and Briscoe were all inside the arc in the backcourt. (Ironically, Monk was the only one back after having gotten burned on that run out before) Not to mention that with a timeout perhaps he could have gotten some defensive switches. I don't blame Willis, but we all know he's a defensive liability. He was in the game because they knew they'd need threes or at least scoring. With a timeout, I'd bet Gabriel would've been in.
March 27, 20179 yr I know that this is an opinion shared by very few, but I am glad to see Bam leaving. Our beast has a four cylinder engine that stands idleing at the elbow watching teammates shots rebounded by opponents. A warrior doesn't play 34 minutes and get a weak two fouls while the opponents are continually ripping rebound after rebound off the glass. Are his arms short and/or hands small? Just cannot imagine being that tall and strong and continually getting dunks blocked because he takes so long to slam the ball through with his two hand wind-up delivery. Hands of stone and fundamentally weak with continually putting the ball on the floor. Seems like he mentally engaged about 10 minutes in this game. IMO Freshman vs juniors or seniors. I would be willing to bet if he stayed to his Junior year those things wouldn't happen. So not sure why you would be glad he is leaving. I know we are so use to freshman, that we forget players do get better actually.

The only complaint I think that can be said. Is the majority of the 50 50 calls in the first half did seem to go in UNC favor. It is what it is though. UK has their chances to win still, but UNC made one more winning play than UK.

Come on Prof... :lol2: Lol In post 257 I committed to being more open minded and accepting the results without question, and I'm sticking to it. At 62 in age I've been through the ups and downs with UK basketball since Cotton Nash played in the early 1960s and should have learned by now that it's just a game. There's bigger worries in the world than this 2 point loss.
