The Louisville St. Xavier game was entertaining for most of the contest as both teams played and hit really hard. Highlands being the smaller school wore down in the second half in large part because they did not play many players even though they dressed a whole lot.

Both teams have a great shot at a long playoff run.

How this for a match up in this even next season? L.S.X. VS. Cincy St. X Highlands Vs. Cincinnati Winton Woods

All in all a pretty good showing for the Birds in this game. I think the passing game is coming around a Little. 45 had a couple of nice catches. I do have a complaint about refs ( I usually do not do this) it seemed like Cecil was getting popped a lot of times well after the ball was gone. I know the refs called one, but they let a lot go. Also I was suprised at how sparce the X crowd was. Couldn't have been 200 fans over there, and no students at all. Whats up with that?

I will agree there.. Cecil took a few extra shots and the late hit call was missed but overall I thought the refs really did a decent job. The St. X fan support was FEEBLE at that. No student section.. I cant imagine they will be invited back next year. Takes nothing away from the St.X football team though as they were clearly a very well coached, physical group of outstanding athletes. Great job to both teams, heal up Birds and come out swinging next week.

I agree no one should ever be happy with a loss. However, I watched the game on FSN and thought Highlands played a very good game. They will be tough down the road. I know one thing St X today is feeling sore and know they were in a battle. I always say it is tough to play a team that platoons and wares the opponent down. Highlands you all played a good game and it was not an easy game. Good Luck the rest of the season. JD

I was very impressed with both teams. St X by far has the best 1-2 punch in the state when it comes to running backs. Duece Finch and Vic Anderson are both hard nosed runners and have the quickness to break one at any time as Vic showed on one of his long TD runs.

On the other hand though, Highlands o-line is very impressive. They opened holes for Cecil and Kramer all day. I was very impressed with Kramer's speed as well as how quick and shifty he is. I think had they been playing on a grass field he may have broke a couple more runs where he slipped on the turf.

All in all, nice win for St. X and a great game by both teams. I expect both to make a lot of noise come playoff time.

. By the way, while I was impressed with Anderson's talent, I was even more impressed with his demeanor on the field. He is one nice kid whom has to make his parents very proud.

One of the highest compliments anyone can receive. I thought it worth repeating. Vic is a great kid and great athlete.

The game was excellent.:ylsuper:

To give the freshman the "experience" of being in PBS, Dale had the freshmen dressed on the sideline, so there were really 30 less players available to Highlands than what it looked.

I agree. Highlands played a considerable number of players; and they did anything but wear down.

Gotta put out a "welcome to the show" for Charlie Ringwald #9. How cool is it getting your first varsity punts and tackle at PBS against a powerhouse like X? Bigger days ahead Charlie!! Work hard and keep focused...it WILL pay off!!

Finch and Anderson are great backs...but for my $$$, the guy at Male is better all around and would get my vote for Mr. KY FB.

And this thread is not about Mr. Football it's about the game...

Good job X on your win.

Highlands...loved watching your team play..#4...your great to watch..keep it up!!!!!!!!

Anderson showed why he will be Mr. Football. He is 195 of pure power. No one tackler was able to bring him down. Simply amazing. He is right up there with Brohm for his position - ie you can make a legit case he is the best the state has ever produced as a high school player. And for what it's worth, I predict the Tigers will not miss him much at all next year.

I am not asking this as a slam, but why was St. X's crowd so small yesterday?

I heard many people (and not just HHS folks) asking the same question.

A combination of the distance and the TV coverage, I guess.

If every St. X player brings 1 parent then they would have had a bigger crowd.
