Best Christmas Gift you got when you were 12 or younger?

Featured Replies

What Christmas gift do you remember getting as a child (12 or younger) that was your favorite? How did you get it? What ever happened to it?

I remember getting a portable radio as a 10 year old that got AM-FM and audio from TV stations and had a Weather and Police band. It could pick up baseball games in the Summer from St. Louis, Philly, Chicago, Cleveland easily. Could pick up re-broadcast of the Iowa football games on Saturday nights at Midnight for all the farmers that were out working in the fields on a Saturday afternoon. And Iowa was terrible back then. It lasted forever (about 40 years) before it finally gave out.

Probably around 8 or 9 I got Mighty Matilda. It was a huge aircraft carrier that would shoot torpedoes and launch fighter jets. I loved that toy.

Barbie Dream House and Barbie camper. I'm sure my older sister eventually broke them.

That's tough. But I'd probably have to go with my Big Foot Power Wheels.

At about 9 years old. Fort Apache play set. Had a metal building with doors that opened and snap-together plastic stockade fence. Tons of plastic cowboys and Indians. I was politically incorrect as a child as well . . .

And I don't think it's even close...I loved these and I played the heck out of them. I'd set up ramps using folded Monopoly Boards and jump everything I could find. When the weather got warm I tried to jump from my elevated yard and sidewalk across the street. Stunt Bike didn't survive that, but the chopper did. I guess when I went to college mom tossed them or put them in a yard sale, but these were so awesome I'm tempted to get another one. I'll guarantee that if I'm ever blessed to have a grandchild this is on the top of the list of things from grandpa.

Magic 8 ball. I still have it. It's on my desk here at work. I like to use it when replying to stupid questions.

Wow...I'd love that right NOW!

Castle Greyskull set

He-man, Battle cat

Skeletor

and a couple other action figures.

Nintendo probably.

Strat-O-Matic Baseball when I was 9. Christmas 1968. Aside from my first bicycle.

A Panasonic 3DO game system. Back when it was released it was way ahead of it's time. I believe it was the first gaming system that used disks rather than cartridges. Unfortunately it never went over well due to the price and nintendo and sega owned the majority of the video game market. It was an awesome little machine though while it lasted.

I got a boombox with the three-disk changer and Nelly's "Country Grammar" when I was 10. Had to replace the boombox after we moved in with my step-dad, and still have the replacement, but I never lost that CD. It doesn't work anymore, but it's still in my collection.

Same. BigWheel. Not even a close second. I power braked the plastic wheels off that motherscratcher.

I never had one of those, I don't think I ever even rode one. I always thought they were cool, but I guess I never told Santa.
