Hate to throw water on a good rant but isn't the reason that the basketball championship games were originally moved to Sunday was to accommodate A UK game in Rupp on Saturday morning?

 

I thought it was to keep teams from playing back to back on Saturday and give a team a break who had to play the late game on saturday

There isn't a bigger fan of BG/WKU than me, but if it's going to cause from some screwy scheduling (I could live with the weekend after) and it being an issue from years on out then it's time for Lex-town and the New CWS.

Yes, that did force the hand of the KHSAA, but there had been discussion for a few years about moving it to Sunday.

As some else said there had been talk of eliminating the double games but UK playing at home on a Saturday afternoon forced their hand.

If they would rather continue hoping to host their college championships then fine. But give up the rights to KHSAA and move on to another venue that can host it.

Like UK. It's pretty central for everyone, more motels, eateries, and adventure in Lexington anyway.

I would assume they would be the only ones. Louisville and Eastern teams would probably rather go to Lex. I always feel bad when Belfry has to go 6 hours across the state for it.

I think Louisville would be more central, especially when you consider the teams coming out of the West. That said, I'd be happy with either Lex or Lou. I could actually attend the 6A final if it was in one of those cities. I don't have the time for a drive all the way down to Bowling Green.

If WKU hosts the CUSA final on the early afternoon of Dec. 5, here is the proposed schedule for the KHSAA finals (all times Eastern):

* Thursday, Dec. 3 – Class A, 8 p.m.

* Saturday, Dec. 5 – Class 6-A, 6 p.m.; Class 5-A, 9 p.m.

* Sunday, Dec. 6 – Class 2-A, 2 p.m.; Class 3-A, 5 p.m.; Class 4-A, 8 p.m.

* Friday, Dec. 4 – Class A, noon; Class 2-A, 3:30 p.m.; Class 6-A, 7 p.m.

Not a big deal to me. Only the media and very few paying non-media people will attend all 6 games. It ain't hard to plan for if folks really want to see all 6 games and you get a day off in between. The Sweet 16 has more games and covers a longer period of time. I love every second of it. Nothing else matters then. If folks love high school football like that then they'll put on their big boy pants and suck it up. Way too many people whining about this issue. WKU is still the best spot for the finals until the KHSAA decides to build a football complex somewhere capable of hosting the state finals. I'm not going to root against WKU just so folks can have a day less of their state finals weekend.
