I once feel from ~6 feet while trying to fix a rope swing and landed on my tail-bone directly on a tree root. I thought for sure that I was going to pass out. Coincidentally, another very painful experience was a small female doctor struggling to give me a bone marrow biopsy. Strange how the 2 most pain filled times were centered around the same part of the body :arghh:

Don't get me started on how painful sex is for the first time after having a baby! :banana:

Kidney stones are really bad but when they are out, the pain is immediately gone. Not so with birth. The healing time is pretty painful as well, especially if there was any cutting involved.

 

True. After you give birth the pain usually lingers about 21 more years until they move out of the house.

My buddy's wife had to go to the hospital today with gallstones. She'll be having her gall bladder removed in the morning, I believe. He found her collapsed on the floor after she had just got done showering, writhing in pain and unable to stand without help. Yikes.

I passed salivary gland stones , kinda rare but does happen. And a fall out of a barn left me with a concussion / whiplash and a severely separated shoulder . The shoulder thing was terrible , I remember riding in a car the next day , even on smooth asphalt it was rough.

Last year, I had an appendectomy that ended up with some complications. I had a drain hanging out of my abdomen for a week and a half. When it came time to remove the drain, I was given no pain medication, or no real warning. The Dr told me to lay back and hold my breath, then yanked the tubing out. (about 18 to 24 inches worth). My wife had to hold me down. I have had kidney stones, and various broken bones, but that was the worst thing that I have ever felt.

I would like to retract my previous post. Last night I had pain hit me like nothing I had ever felt. I spent the entire night moving from the bed, to the chair, to the floor, to anywhere else I could think of to get some relief. Finally, at 1030 this morning, I had Mrs Musketeers take me to the ER. I am trying to give birth to another kidney stone. Two doses of morphine and zofran barely took the pain away. Thankfully, it has eased up to tolerable now.

I shattered 7" of my forearm from the wrist towards my elbow. Both bones. I went into walking shock on the field and was eerily calm (although my body temp was dropping), however, at the hospital when the shock wore off and they couldn't give me pain meds until my mom arrived (was 15), it was so much pain I was grabbing at nurses and doctors as I was thrashing in the bed. 4 surgeries and bones from a cadever later, it only hurts when it rains.

 

I also tore my ACL in college, didn't hurt at all when I did it (just felt weird), but when I got back to my apt. and it swelled to the size of a volleyball, the pain was excruciating.

While surfing off the southern outer banks in Atlantic Beach, NC I got entangled in a Portuguese Man O War. If you ever see what appears to be a clear to blue ziploc bag full of air floating on top of the water....swim away, and swim fast.

 

They have long tentacles below the surface which if you come into contact with feel like an oven burn. That pain sticks with you for a couple hours and takes a good day to subside completely. Excruciating pain!!!

A close second are those first few seconds when Mom used merthiolate (reddish/orange ) antiseptic on cuts and scraps during childhood! Let's just say I was an active kid and had to come into contact with that stuff at least once a month...

 

I've seen kidney stones bring strong men to tears and literally yelling in pain. Thankfully I haven't crossed paths with them yet and hope not to.

I was caught, by my own making sadly, in the middle of a brush fire and had burns to my lower leg and arms. That was bad. But having the skin peeled off and sitting in a whirlpool after, well, I'd rather have kidney stones.

 

Hearing of anyone getting burnt just sends cold chills up my body. I caught a skillet on fire and tired to throw it outside. I burnt my right hand really bad and had to have skin grafting. One of the worse pains I have ever had.

Kidney Stones. They are a 10. Gut me like a fish and it's a 3.

 

To compare I have had: gout, broken ribs, gall bladder, knee surgery and concussion

That was the worst part for me in that surgery as well. Thought he accidentally grabbed my intestine.

Mine hurt pretty bad initially, but then I played a whole second half of a flag football game. Definitely didn't feel right. Couldn't hardly walk the next day. That whole experience would be my worst pain.

Had a needle stuck in between my upper lip and nose (philtrum) prior to getting stitches for busting up my lip. I can tell you a needle there puts tears in your eyes.

 

I severely sprained an ankle, and right after it hurt so bad I almost threw up. It was worse than when I broke my other ankle a few years later. I had an ACL reconstruction back when it was two long cuts and they moved a lot of bone around (iliotibial band transfer), and it was bad. I had shoulder surgery for a bone spur, torn labrum and two tears in the rotator cuff...the first three days after were brutal.

 

Oh, and I broke my tailbone playing hockey...that will get one's attention.

 

I have beaten myself to death, however, I am very lucky that I have never had any kind of internal ailments.
